Our planet’s nature is diminishing, fast. Climate change, habitat destruction, unsustainable resource use, poaching. It’s all having a devastating impact on our home. It’s time to change the story. Working with local partners, communities, and supporters like you, our shared purpose is to protect the diversity of life on Earth, for the survival of the planet and its people. We are committed to saving nature, together. Protecting habitats, reviving the ocean, reducing extinctions, stopping illegal wildlife trade, combatting climate change. We fuse local and international knowledge to find the best solutions to the issues we face; from working directly in biodiverse areas, to influencing governments and businesses on a global scale.

🐊 New hope for critically endangered Siamese crocodile as 60 eggs hatch in the wild! 60 Siamese crocodiles, from five separate nests, have successfully hatched in Cambodia’s Cardamom National Park – the largest record of this species breeding in the wild this century. Due to decades of hunting and habitat loss, the Siamese crocodile is one of the world’s rarest crocodiles, categorised as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Fauna & Flora and our local partners run a conservation breeding programme to strengthen wild populations of Siamese crocodiles. The crocs are bred in captivity and their offspring are released into the wild in remote sites protected by local communities. Since 2012, we have released a total of 196 Siamese crocodiles. Head to our website to find out more about our work to save the Siamese crocodile from extinction - https://lnkd.in/e6y5sPKk #SavingNatureTogether #IUCN #Cambodia

Despite the escalating climate and nature emergency, the UK's leadership on these critical global issues has waned in recent years. The vital connection between people, especially the poorest communities, and nature is well-documented – as is the importance of locally-led initiatives to halt and reverse nature loss. Fauna & Flora, along with other UK-based partners, have key demands for the new UK government regarding international nature commitments, focused on four main areas of action: Global Leadership, Aid & Finance, Reducing Environmental Impact and Leading by Example in the UK. The next five years are crucial for making progress - join us in urging the UK government to step up and lead the charge for a sustainable future for all: https://lnkd.in/eCqGN6RB CATHOLIC AGENCY FOR OVERSEAS DEVELOPMENT WWF-UK Conservation International International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) Forest Peoples Programme RSPB Zoological Society of London (ZSL) #SavingNatureTogether #GlobalLeadership #EnvironmentalImpact

📣 Update since the destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl on Union Island - 💡 We have supported our partner UIEA with a generator, air beds, portable chargers, and other equipment and supplies. 📶 We also supplied them with Starlink, so that they can communicate more effectively with their team, with us, with their family and friends. 💧 We have been working on coordination efforts for other relief supplies not funded by us, including water, stoves, food and clothing. 💬 We are in daily contact with them and they are trying to remain strong in the face of this great adversity. 🛠️ Work has begun cleaning the island, removing debris and making temporary structures. They have lost everything, and it will take years before everyone is on their feet again - but with the support given through Fauna & Flora, its donors and partners, they are on the long road to recovery. Thanks to all who have donated to our emergency appeal.

🍃 Will the EU's new Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) revolutionise the fight against deforestation, or simply push farmers to less regulated markets? Effective implementation requires local support, transparency, and robust enforcement. Can the EUDR inspire global change? Daniel Meyer explores the potential impact on curbing agriculture-related deforestation. #Deforestation #EUDR #Agriculture

Fauna & Flora Head of Conservation Design & Impact Hannah Becker shares some key insights about improving project design and delivery for locally-led conservation using monitoring, evaluation, & learning (MEL) principles.
Experienced wildlife conservation professional, focusing on project design, monitoring, evaluation & learning, and community-based approaches
Last week Fauna & Flora were delighted to be involved in thought-provoking presentations and lively discussions around embedding #evidence in conservation practice, convened by the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, Conservation Evidence, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and TRAFFIC. This meeting sparked some points of relevance to our approach and learning we’ve gained in our efforts to enable the delivery of impactful, locally-led conservation through effective, bottom-up project design and #monitoring, #evaluation, & #learning (#MEL). We have summarised our learning in this article so that others supporting MEL, #evidence use, and working to drive changes within their organisations can benefit too. We are grateful to Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies for supporting this work. Our learning resonates with discussions we've had in the past too Shauna Mahajan Nicole DeMello Arundhati Jagadish Morena Mills Louise Glew David Wilkie, Iain Dickson, Catherine Payne. Thank you to my colleauges Fauna & Flora who've been on this learning journey with me, including Katie Lee-Brooks Alex Harnett (né Barrett) Danielle Stern Jessica Betts Gabriella Balfour-Church Ellen Buckland Jess Farish Timur Jack-Kadıoğlu, PhD Abigail Entwistle Joanna Elliott

Broadcaster Liz Bonnin reflects on her time visiting Union Island and the devastation wrought on it by Hurricane Beryl. "...this is not something that is conveniently taking place ‘far away’. What is happening in the Caribbean affects us all, no matter where we live. Every ecosystem is inextricably linked to the other, together feeding into ocean current, climate and other natural systems that make the planet habitable." https://lnkd.in/egQBdkuX
