  • 📢 The new Government must listen to the leaders of tomorrow. Our Youth Voices research involved over 3,000 14-24 year olds from across the UK, seeking their views on the issues that matter most to them politically and personally. Our new Government has an unmissable opportunity to make sure young people are heard, by introducing a clear process to involve youth voices in every level of policy and decision-making. 🤝 We are delighted to reflect on our partnership with The Lord Mayor's Appeal (TLMA), which began in 2019 and has enabled us to reach thousands of young people in London with a life-changing DofE programme. The partnership, extended by a year due to the pandemic, concluded earlier this year. Thanks to the generous support from TLMA, over 10,000 marginalised young people in London have started their DofE journey. In addition, 1,000 leaders have been trained, and over 50 schools and community groups have received essential expedition equipment. A huge thank you to The Lord Mayor’s Appeal for their incredible support which has enabled thousands of young Londoners to develop vital skills, build confidence, and the self-belief to unlock their potential and support their transition from school to the world of work. Watch the inspiring video below to hear directly from young people and adults whose school has been supported with funding from TLMA 💜

  • We are delighted to collaborate with Amey to ensure more young people in prison can develop the skills, resilience, and self-belief they need to fulfil their potential on release. Every young person deserves a second chance, and this pilot will combine the power of a DofE development programme with meaningful work placements. Thanks to this innovative collaboration, we look forward to helping to reduce reoffending and help more young people in prison transform their lives.

We're proud to partner with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) to launch a transformative programme aimed at enhancing employment prospects for young offenders post-release. Together with prison teams, we’ll co-develop a three-year initiative that combines vocational qualifications with the essential skills harnessed through the Bronze DofE Award. This programme will empower up to 168 young people with the tools and experience needed to break the cycle of reoffending and secure meaningful employment, marking a significant step in youth justice reform. • Happy #InternationalYouthDay! 💜 Now is the time for youth voice to be embedded within all levels of decision-making on issues that impact young people. Our new research, Youth Voices 2024, shows that young people are politically engaged but don’t feel listened to by politicians. They care about being able to afford a university education or own their home, they also care deeply about the state of our public services. It is our hope that by International Youth Day 2025, we will be in a place where young people feel listened to by politicians and have a say on the decisions that impact our lives. 📢 Read Youth Voices 2024 and find out more about our Youth Pledge: https://bit.ly/4f5qlYa #YouthDay #ListenToYouth #YouthVoices24

“The youth sector is well positioned to be a catalyst for change.” 🖋️ Our Chair, Harris Bokhari OBE, has written exclusively for Schools Week alongside Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE, Chair of Trustees at the The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE). 🤝 Together they discuss how the government should leverage expertise and capacity in the youth sector to complement the school offer. Earlier this year, NCS Trust and DofE published research into how partnerships and collaboration between the youth and education sectors can improve access to enrichment activities, as well as their impact and quality. Approaches are already being tested as part of the Enrichment Partnerships Pilot across areas of the North East, North West and East of England.
