The Butler County Coroner has completed the autopsy and determined the official cause of death of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

According to TMZ, Crooks died from a gunshot wound to the head. The coroner has classified his death as a homicide.

Crooks was shot and killed by a sniper with the Secret Service after he opened fire as Trump was speaking to the crowd. The shooting left one rally attendee dead and two others injured. Trump was also wounded as the bullets grazed his ear, leaving him bleeding as he was escorted off the stage by Secret Service agents.

Trump was taken to a nearby medical facility, where he was treated and released. On Sunday, Trump appeared fine as he went golfing. Then, on Monday, he made a surprise appearance at the Republican National Convention, showing off his bandaged ear during a joint appearance with his newly-named running mate, J.D. Vance.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the assassination attempt but so far have found little evidence about his reasons.
