There is certainly no one definition of a great hair day — a fact that was made abundantly clear backstage at the spring 2024 shows. Sure, there were some basic glossy blowouts and undone waves but the greatness came when hairstylists fully unleashed their creativity on every cut and texture

Our favorite looks were all anchored by unique details: Ribbon was woven through braids like a corset, side parts were taken in different directions, and accessories were incorporated in unexpected ways. Straight and wavy and curly hair all took new forms on the spring runways, inspiring us to want to do more than just air dry our hair.

With these looks ingrained in our minds, we will be taking a trip to the craft store for ribbon and perhaps even reaching for hair dye. Here, the greatest hair inspiration for spring 2024.

Do the wave with your hairline.

Wet hair is nothing new... but at Jason Wu’s spring show, hairstylist Jimmy Paul put a spin on the style by adding what he is calling a “shipwrecked finger wave” hairline. Combing Tresemmé Mega Control Hair Gel and Keratin Smooth Shine Serum throughout the hair helped to “achieve a wet, nearly drenched appearance without sacrificing the fluid movement of the natural texture,” says Paul. We have to say, it was a slick move.

So was the (very sophisticated) squiggly hairline seen framing models' faces at Giorgio Armani. In the back, hair was swirled into a delicate updo by hairstylist Roberta Bellazzi

Double French braids are simply braids… until you weave a ribbon through them and suddenly they become a braided corset. Hairstylist Lacy Redway envisioned “a ballerina fairy who twirls down the runway.” To complement the extravagance of Christian Siriano’s spring collection, her goal was to “keep the hair feeling soft with clean-girl aesthetic but put-together.”

Want a much easier lift? Tie a sliver of ribbon around the crown of your head as Jawara did on models at Helmut Lang.

Adorned with glimmering beads, cornrows were taken to another dimension at Dauphinette’s show. One of hairstylist Mandee Tauber’s goals for this show was to create looks that were “heavenly” — and her vision is crystal-clear here.

A sleek ponytail shines in a new light when it’s complete with a sparkly accessory. At Tory Burch, hair was embellished with a patch of sparkles affixed at the nape of the neck. For a similar look, we suggest a bedazzled accessory — like Jennifer Behr’s Chiara Ponywrap — to dress up your everyday slicked-back style.

Head-on, models walking Palomo Spain’s spring show appeared to have their hair pulled back in tight buns — but things heated up as they passed by to reveal a single red-hot streak spun into the style. “The peek-a-boo red panels were a cool nod to the ‘90s and really worked to elevate the look,” says hairstylist Sarah Lund, an ambassador for Kevin Murphy. If you aren’t ready to commit to the dye job, consider clip-in extensions. Or try a bright ribbon around the base of the bun and let it trail onto your back.

Art your part.

A slick ponytail is infinitely cooler with a center part that's a work of art. Hairstylist Guido Palau showed us one solid way to do it at Fendi's show. We will be reaching for rhinestones and ribbons to try it on our own.
