On April 20, I fell to my knees the moment I saw Taraji P Henson’s braided ponytail that was longer than a CVS receipt. The TPH by Taraji founder often experiments with her hairstyles (and occasionally hair color), typically done by her go-to hairstylist, Tym Wallace. A perfect example is the half-top knot, half-bob hairstyle she wore to CinemaCon on April 25.
Henson attended the event in a metallic two-piece suit that had a champagne-to-peach ombré design. Wallace gathered most of her hair into a twisted top knot and left out a section in the front, which was swept to the side. I don’t know if I could even call this a side bang, thanks to the blunt cut and chin-grazing length. Perhaps Wallace has introduced an edgier style for side bangs?
Makeup artist Saisha Beechman paired shimmery rosy eye makeup with deep burgundy glossy lips. Beechman added matching burgundy matte eye shadow to the outer corners of her eyes. Beechman also buffed a reddish blush onto Henson's cheeks.
Henson also brought out gilded claws for CinemaCon. She attended the event to promote her upcoming film, The Color Purple, which is based on the Broadway musical adaptation of the Alice Walker book of the same name.
No matter how much I look at Henson's bob-topknot-hybrid hairstyle, I can't figure out a single name for it. But what I can say is that it's a cute edgy updo that has been added to my hair inspiration board for fall.
