I bought high capacity rechargeable batteries since I’d rather not throw away batteries away every month. I really like that I can see the battery percentage remaining through the Ring app, and I think these lights can go a month, give or take a week, between charges, which is reasonable. I would have loved to find a wired version of these lights. The lights have a low power dim light on all night so it’s not such a visual shock when they go on. And when they’re on they’re very bright, much better than 100% of the solar lights I’ve reviewed/tested over the years.
Yes, these are expensive. They’re plastic, but a very durable feeling plastic. There are o-rings to keep water out of the battery cylinder and the design is well thought out including using a QR code to scan each light into the system when first setting them up. They all needed firmware updates which the app took care of automatically in less than 5 minutes. I was able to group them all together as a unit and even group them with my Ring doorbell, so it’s nice when you have the same vendor product lines that work together as opposed to lots of different ones which require lots of apps to manage. The frequent motion notifications were annoying, so I had to silence that.
One complaint was the boxes each unit was packed into was an excessive waste of paper. For the cost I would have expected the housing to be metal, but the plastic does appear to be very durable. There isn’t any other style of lights to choose from, so that could have been better, but these are acceptable. I don’t think I’ll keep them out in the winter, because snow tends to bury everything for a few months. Even though they’re tall, a heavy snow fall and shovelling will cover them completely. I’d prefer not to find out how good the seals are in the battery compartment. I’ve seen more than 75% of all my solar lights get ruined because water got under the panel, onto the circuit board and battery compartment, and rust everything till it’s trash.
I feel like these are a good investment.

I still haven’t been able to get the Pathway lights working since I received them a week ago now. I wasted several days and many hours chatting and talking with Ring Support and their support is horrible as they contradict each other, the Chat Support always had to get me to call Support because they weren’t knowledgeable enough to handle even simple things, and after eventually talking for an hour with a Tier 2 Technical Support person they then said they found out that the Echo can’t be used as a Bridge in Canada because Canada won’t allow the frequency to be used for it, even though he said that it has the exact same chip in it for wireless communications that the Ring Bridge has which I would be able to use. The previous support person said the Echo would work and which is why I went out and bought one for it, and it doesn’t say that Echo won’t work in Canada in any of the Ring documents or on their site, and the Ring App specifically shows the Echo as a device that is available to choose for it. I tried to order a Ring Bridge in Canada and they were now sold out after wasting so much time with support and so I had to order it from the United States and I am still waiting for it to arrive. And all the instructions I was sent for 4 pathlights were in French without any English and I told them that there are reviews going back years that had the same problems, so they haven’t even resolved that. I was going to buy more of their products but not after what I have gone through with this now then.

I have been struggling each spring to get my wired lights working. Sometimes after a single winter
either the power wires would dry up and become very rigid or the squirrels would have chewed away at the wires.

Because they are not wired these lights will be taken in for the winter.
Also, the motion sensing, the ability to choose the brightness/dim level and timer settings is fantastic.
These lights can communicate with each other and with your Ring cameras to turn on because of motion. They can be controlled from your smartphone phone app from anywhere.

Originally bought four, then bought two more.
I’m hoping that they add other versions like spotlights next year.

Also, unlike previous generation that it is solar powered, you will have to constantly buying new D cells or buy AA rechargeable batteries with adapter.
