July 10th 2018 Update———-
Seal on the lid broke and mug would leak. Didn’t use very often. Considering all the issues I have had with multiple mugs it seems to be poor design and/or quality control. Moving to 1 star.
----UPDATED REVIEW-----
I returned the first one I received and ordered another one. The green trim was flush on this one and doesn't make the cup feel awkward. Also, after a few days of use the loose rattling noise seems to go away. Really enjoying this mug now :)
Note: If you overfill the mug and then put on the lid you may have some leaking problems. This is because the fluid levels inside flow into the lid (part of the lid mechanism slightly dips into the stainless body) and even when you 'lock' the lid the fluid that was already in the lid stay in (and is also 'locked' from going back into the body). So if you tip the mug when this happens...the extra fluid will come out. This is easily solved by not overfilling the mug. In every other instance I have had zero leaks, even when held upside down after sipping.
-----ORIGINAL REVIEW------ (3 Stars)
Factoring in the price & brand name I would give this product 3 stars. If it was under $20 I would give it 4-5 stars.
I love the look and design of this mug. It is so hard to find a minimalist looking travel mug that isn't huge. Please note that compared to other mugs this is quite small. I knew that going in. I don't need a bucket of coffee in the morning. This size is perfect for me.
There are only 2 things that I was disappointed in, but they are annoying enough to warrant the star rating considering the brand and price I was willing to pay.
- Uneven green trim on the top of the mug. The green trim between the mug and cap doesn't go evenly around the mug. It juts out on one side and then recesses in on the other. It detracts from the feeling of holding the mug and is annoying just because I know its there.
- Loose rattling noise from plastic button on top. The button isn't flush either. So when the mug gets shaken around you can hear the plastic button rattle. Slightly annoying.
Everything else is great. But for the price and the fact that its from Braun I think its reasonable to expect a flush build. The products design is very inspired I just wish the interactions with it felt the same.
Things I like:
- The design and size. I don't know why its so hard to find a travel mug that is minimalistic and smaller. This fits that bill. It is very unimposing. Which I think a device that holds my coffee should be.
- 360 Lid. Awesome. I love that I don't have to look down where I am sipping.
- The drinking experience. The lid feels great to drink out of.
- Ease of cleaning. So very important to me. Can have the lid apart in about 5 seconds for full access cleaning.
I am going to return the mug I got and get another one to see if the cons I listed above were a one off. Will update the review if they were.
