4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 104 ratings

Do you feel like you have too much stuff? A cluttered space isn't just inconvenient—the truth is it's hard to lead a joyful, purposeful life when the things around you detract from your relationships, habits, and goals. But decluttering is more than getting rid of the stuff you already have. To make real change in your home, you need to look at how these excess possessions got there in the first place. This book examines the acquisition cycles that keep our homes overcrowded and distract us from going after the meaningful things we really want in our lives.

Make Space for Happiness gives you a seven-step roadmap to clearing your life and opening yourself up to all the good meant to come your way. Renowned decluttering expert Tracy McCubbin will help you revolutionize your living space and your mindset by focusing on clutter clearing as a path to positivity in every area of your life, helping you to manifest: true connection, self-confidence, free time, big love, self-respect, real purpose, and lasting wisdom.

We all want to live in homes that are functional, comfortable, and that bring us happiness rather than detract from it. Make Space for Happiness provides flexibility, support, and inspiration as you re-envision your home as the starting point of the joyful life that's waiting for you.

This is the best book I’ve read in years. I cannot tell you how much this will change your life! From making you declutter , to stopping you bringing in more items and to working out why you got here in the first place.
No stone is left unturned, you find out why you spend money on items. And can ultimately fix your relationship with over spending. Whilst cutting down what you have indoors - you truly work out what needs to be kept and cut ties with all that doesn’t need to be kept without guilt!
If I recommend one book for 2024 this is it! Please read!! Change your life!

I came across this on audible as I was in declutter mode, packing up for a carboot sale. I thought Tracy was going to tell me how to organize my cupboards but this went so much deeper. It really goes into the how and why we accumulate clutter, and being from a family of hoarders and collectors, I found this really interesting. Since listening this has encouraged me so much on my declutter mission and to be pretty ruthless about what needs to go. And also, not shopping for stuff in excess! Thanks Tracy!

I liked the author’s explanation of why people accumulate stuff they don’t need . After reading her book, you want to declutter your house and she gives great advice on how to do it! Highly recommend her books !

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Tracy's books
Reviewed in the United States on 26 October 2022
I had already read Tracy's first book Making Space, Clutter Free. Loved it so much, I had to get her new book right away. And so glad I did because I have just cleared out my parents' house and had brought home way too much and tried to make it work at my house, along with all the other things that are already here, and that I have too much of. This book helped me to jump start the process of sorting and keeping only what I would love and would actually use. But more than that, it helped me to understand better the " why " I am prone to " collecting" or how I can detach emotionally from the things that I had placed emotion on. I didn't realize what all the clutter was doing to me emotionally, and what it was doing to my stress levels and my health. A huge message to me was : The clutter is a" constant to-do list " which is exactly how it felt to me. So busy moving the clutter around, trying to organize the clutter, when all I had to do was remove the emotional attachment that I had placed on way too many things, and then understand that releasing the extra will allow it to make it's way into someone else's life that really needs it or would use it, because as I was storing it away, was a total waste. And I don't want to waste. So Tracy makes the concept so easy to grasp, I highly recommend her books, especially this new one. Keep 'em coming Tracy, cause we need you !

5.0 out of 5 stars Catalyzing my Comeback
Reviewed in the United States on 17 October 2022
After a few rough years personally (family illness, losses, single parenting - oh, and a pandemic nbd), I'm coming up for air (selling a house, moving to a new state, starting a business, etc). This book is right on time.

Even though it's a *smidge* embarrassing to admit how much shopping I'd been doing over the past few years to fill the space of some tough emotions and life events, it was liberating to see WHY I'm doing it and what that clutter translates into in real life. I can clearly see myself in emotional clutter magnets like connection, confidence and real purpose. Tracy's voice is kind, cheeky and honest. No joke, this is truly helping me navigate my comeback.

FYI: For short attention-spanned readers like me who prefer to jump around a book, this is perfect for that. I've have it out on my kitchen counter for a week and keep picking it up when I need a shot in the arm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you talking to me?
Reviewed in the United States on 1 February 2023
She is definitely talking to me. I was listening to the book on audible and there were so many things I wanted/needed to remember, I bought the book as well so I could reference it. This book truly resonated with me. I feel very motivated now that I can be aware of unhealthy patterns and shopping habits and bc why I might be tempted by certain purchases. The thing that really stands out to me is how time is fleeting. We won’t get this moment again, all we have are the memories. No amount of money can buy it back. Definitely something to talk to my therapist about! I was laughing out loud at some parts because it just felt like she knew me. Like, is there a hidden camera somewhere following me? Now I need to read her other book and see what else I can learn from Tracy.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're stuck, this book will help you see why
Reviewed in the United States on 31 October 2022
I have read very few self-help books all the way through; in fact, her first book may have been the first, and this book the second. There is a lot of psychology behind why we hang on to things, and she helps the reader understand that, and why it is often a case of being stuck, and, more importantly why and how to become unstuck.
This, and her first book, have been life-changing for me as I pass into another stage of my life and find myself bogged down with the detritus of previous iterations of my self. I grew up with an "I might need that" philosophy as well as being unable to part with things because they are deemed valuable. Tracy, through her books, has helped me not just release myself from the custody of clutter, but helped me feel good about doing it. This is a book like no other.
