It is very light. I have used one extensively on dozens of international flights. Because it is compact and unobtrusive I have never been challenged for excess luggage or asked to weigh it, including when used as a second personal item in addition to my main carry on which is how I mostly use it.
It goes under the seat in front without a problem. The main compartment zip has loops for a padlock.
The shoulder belt has a rectangular metal loop at one end to fasten it to the bag. This is a mistake, because it twists around and looks a mess. A D-shaped loop would work better.
The front external pocket is a good size for passport and wallet, but sadly there are no internal pockets.
I have never had a problem with the zips, strap, or bag material, but the material inside the front pocket eventually tears and comes away. I used one for around 80 hours in the air over 30+ flights before the inner pocket became useless and the bag went in the bin. I think that's a decent amount of use for the cost and I bought another because although it is flawed, any alternatives I've tried aren't as good.
