Decent bit of kit

Decent bit of kit, bright, app is easy enough to use too. Although they are very chunky (wide) and sturdy which means putting it on the back of the TV is challenging, although I am not sure they are advertised for TV's anyway. I do seem to have one random blue section though.

Change of backing from 3M

So these are no doubt fantastic lights, we’ve purchased 3 in total over the years and they really add atmosphere to our living room.

My only gripe is not the actually product itself but a change to the sticky backing to the lights. Both my previous lights had a 3M backing, however these new ones seem to be non branded and are actually awful at sticking. It’s already started to peel off, which is highly disappointing for a pretty expensive product and well branded name.

Is this a one off or had Phillips moved to a cheaper alternative to cut costs? I might write of to Phillips directly as ask them, as its quite sad that I have to tape them to the skirting board!!

Over priced and poor Quality

Purchased this product three times and had to return everyone because of the same faults. If not straight away, within a few days sections of the lights fail by not working at all or displaying the wrong colour. These run in cycles of six so you end up with a 4 inch patch that does not match the strips colour…
To add the adhesion to anything other than glass is absolutely rubbish, if you’re lucky for them to work long enough, within a couple of days They just come unstuck and fall off…
And why on earth someone thought it would be a good idea to cut the backing paper to get to the adhesion into 20 separate pieces which need to be peeled off 1 by 1 before you can stick it to anything, is beyond my comprehension…!!!

I think this might be the first time I write a reveiw, but I really feel this should be highlighted on the product description. At this price point, the minimum you'd expect from a led lightstrip is to be able to cut it and reconnect it. My project was for it to go under the kitchen cabinet, and I needed to cut the strip to skip the hob, to then finish the cabinet on the other side of the hob. Nothing crazy. But after speaking to Philips (useless customer service btw, I thought the person I was speaking to was making fun of me at a point) turns out that once the strip is cut, that's it. No way to reconnect it, or reuse it. I am left with 1+ mt of extra expensive led strip, that I can do nothing with. The light itself is amazing but it looks awful when it's only covering half kitchen.

I own 20 Philips Hue bulbs of various types and they are all brilliant.
This specific product though seems to have some quality control issues.

Disappointed in Amazon too who sold a broken product via Warehouse, meaning they did no quality control on a returned product, claiming only minor box damage.

The first strip I got seemed to work fine but when the colour is changed to anything with mostly purple or blue in, it became obvious the bulbs didn't work correctly for a small section.

The second replacement strip I got was even worse with only the first 6 or so lights/bulbs turning on.
I also wasn't able to successfully update the software of the second one via the Hue app.

I'm sure it's a great product if it all works properly but there seems to be a lack of quality control... you would expect for the price, you wouldn't have these issues.

Purchased 6 weeks ago but installed 2 weeks ago with only a gentle bend. Today added 1M extension 45cm after gentle bend and not even moving the bend. Initially all worked then light cut out after gentle bend. Have disconnectec/reconnected to hub and to power but still dead.Big disappointment and waste of money for maybe 2 hours total usage.

Avoid. Item stopped working within six weeks. Bought this as a birthday present for my child. It was put up on the wall by the ceiling and was not touched after putting up. Randomly stopped working one day. Amazon won't replace the item. You have to return it, get a refund and then hope the item is back in stock or the same prices as before. Best avoid this item and Amazon's customer service when things go wrong.

Very excited to use this, got it out of the box and stuck it to the back of a display plugged it in to find a connector broken meaning only a few lights would work. For the money paid this should have been substantially more secure and robust.
