Safe but slightly frustrating to use

There's no doubt that this is very 'safe', they've done a good job of ensuring that you're relatively safe from chafing or pinching of skin. But unfortunately that means that the trade off is that it simply doesn't shave that well, especially if you're not fairly meticulous about ensuring that you're always shaving 'against' the hair direction so that it can scoop underneath the hairs properly. It can be a slightly frustrating experience. I also found that on occasion it would pull/yank the hair rather than cutting it, which was a bit painful.

Overall I think the value is reasonable for the product, and its fairly ergonomic to hold and well made, but just not the best tool for the job. Final note - It doesn't come with a plug adapter for the charger so bear that in mind.

So, I've had this for a long while now (purchased late 2019) and never got around to writing a review, so here we go. I will preface by saying that I specifically purchased this product for the nether regions and that I am a man.

This thing is definitely good, especially for the price-point, more-so when considering that the much-advertised "Manscaped" trimmer goes for almost triple the cost of this and you can still nick yourself.

Because of the design of the blade/foil on the Philips, the likelihood of you cutting or nicking yourself is basically nil, as the foil is smooth and the blade is on the outer edge. However, the downside to this design is that I find it really does not like to deal with long hair. Before I give-out "too much information", I'll just say that I am a very hairy man all over and my hair grows back pretty darn quickly; I pretty much sport 2 beards, if you get my drift.

The first time I did a once-over with this trimmer, I'd honestly say it took me well over an hour, if not 2 hours, to get the nether regions to a smooth finish. I didn't do an initial trim with my other trimmers as I would have no doubt nicked myself to oblivion, almost making this purchase a pointless one.
It was constantly getting bogged down, requiring me to turn it off, remove the blade to clean it out, then put it all back together to use it again (then again, it isn't meant for "beards").
Even on hair that was trimmed every month or so (about 1/3rd of the initial length), it would still get clogged-up and therefore take me a long, long time to get a smooth finish.

Now, because of the fact that I should replace the blade (should have done a while ago), it really doesn't like cutting anything over 1-2cm in length.

On the topic of the blades, they are pricey. £15 per blade, which is essentially half of the price of the entire kit here on Amazon, which I think is ridiculous.

Overall, if you keep yourself regularly trimmed downstairs and want something cheap for easy and pain-free upkeep, this is a really good purchase. If you're more like me and want something that will allow a full-shave, due to fast-growing hair or because of laziness to upkeep, you might want to look at the newer 5000 series or even the 7000 series.

First off, let's talk about the waterproof feature. Now, I can take this bad boy into the shower without any fear of accidental electrocution—a big plus for a klutz like me. It’s like the trimmer knows I have a knack for dropping things, and it’s there to reassure me, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this!”

The trimmer's dual-sided design is a stroke of genius. On one side, it’s the classic trimmer for tackling the wild, untamed forests of my chest and back. On the other, it's a foil shaver, delicately designed for those, ahem, more sensitive areas. Let's just say my groin has never been so pampered. The skin protector is a lifesaver, quite literally. No more tiny nicks that make me do the "ouchy dance" in the bathroom. It’s smooth sailing from now on, which means fewer awkward explanations when someone catches me wincing and holding an ice pack in a not-so-appropriate place.

I have to give it to Philips; they’ve made something so efficient, it's almost poetic. It’s quiet, too, so I don’t have to worry about my neighbors hearing an odd buzzing sound and wondering if I’ve started a beekeeping hobby in my bathroom.

In conclusion, the Philips Bodygroom Series 3000 is the superhero my grooming routine needed. My only regret? Not getting it sooner. It’s not just a trimmer; it’s a confidence booster, a relationship saver, and the most trustworthy shower companion a guy could ask for. My groin and I have never been happier!
