I purchased the Echo Dot (5th) generation in Nov of 2022 for my disabled mother to help her do things easily. I also purchased the 2-year insurance for protection that ends in 2024. The Dot became defective in early 2023 and I called the company at least 3 times. The customer service was terrible and knew nothing about what they were doing and kept me on the phone for 4 hours. Once I was connected with the woman she said they would replace it and it was coming on the 17th of August. I got a package from Amazon and when I opened it it was a cord to an Echo Dot and only that. I was confused and upset. I called back and went through the same painstaking interrogation only to be given the option to go to Amazon and purchase another Echo Dot then they would send me a refund. I couldn’t believe what she said to me so I asked her to repeat what she said. She said it again and then said “I’m sorry but that’s all we can do for you. I was left with my mouth open in shock. Then I had a few choice words with her. Their terms were nothing like they say. I called back today and every time I tried my calls kept dropping as if they blocked my number. My mother is heartbroken that she can’t get her Dot replaced and Amazon should be ashamed of themselves for offering this terrible insurance as protection. I don’t know where to go from here but my mother and I are loyal customers of Amazon and we depend on the great service we have always gotten from them but this is just ridiculous. I just want them to heal my mother's broken heart and by all means please, please, please don't purchase this insurance. I know it sounds good but I can promise you that you’ll thank me later.
