When shopping for a water filtration system I had 5 main requirements:
1) Effectiveness - will it safely filter out bacteria and protozoa?
- filters down to .1 microns absolute eliminating 99.99999% of all bacteria and protozoa
2) Size/Weight - can it easily be accommodated in my backpacking gear?
- weighs in a 2 oz. and roughly 4 inches
3) Durability - how long will it last? what maintenance is required?
- filters up to 100,000 gallons of water, does not require replacement ceramic filters and cleans easily with provided syringe
4) Price - is it affordable?
- under $20
The Sawyer Mini beats the competition in every category!
I first heard about Sawyer water filters when I was working with a charity that shipped food to impoverished children in 3rd world countries. A sister charity that was dedicated to helping everyone in the world have access to clean water had found Sawyer water filters to be the most effective and durable solution on the market at an incredible price.
All said and done, I love this filter and highly recommend it to everyone!
