I was reluctant to buy this at first, but am glad I did. My old plastic Petzl light is disintegrating and I needed a new headlamp. I didn't want one that had to use one of those "boutique" high voltage batteries that are hard to find. This one gives you the AA battery option.
I really like this thing. At first I thought that the simple rubber base plate was hokey and a sign that this thing was going to be junk. Not true. While it lacks click stops, it works well and a spare rubber base plate and "o" rings are provided. I take this to mean it is expected to wear out and need replacement eventually.
Once you get used to how the switch / beam adjustment switch works it's great. A quality built light made of aluminum. I may get another one as a spare.
I originally bought a headlamp because I thought I would use it occasionally. But it turned out the be the light I use the most. Very helpful if you walk at night or early in the morning. You'll be safer for using it.
This is very useful for doing close work (hobbies, sewing, watchmaking, etc.).
