I purchased this case in February 2022 to replace the Apple Silicon Case for my iPhone 13. I had initially dropped my phone in December 2021, which gave it a single crack in the bottom left of the phone, so that's why I had purchased the Apple Silicon Case. That case was terrible. So I looked on Wirecutter for the best iPhone case and they pointed me to Smartish.
Initially I was pleased with the case. The MagSafe works great. The design got some complements. But it never fit my phone 100% correctly. It was about 98% a tight fit, as I could still see the tiniest of gaps between the phone and the case. I didn't worry about it and used the case until November 2022. That is when I took the case off (I take it off every so often just because) and noticed that at some point the initial crack had expanded significantly. My guess is that I dropped my phone while in the case and the initial crack gave way to a larger one, with the back bottom corner slightly shattered underneath the highest glass layer of the phone back.
I also noticed over time that the decal on the back (I got the hyperspace one) started rubbing off. So about half of the back is no longer hyperspace, just plain black. I was bummed about this but whatever.
I would say this case was a 4/5 or even 5/5 star case at first, but after 9 months, I'm dropping it to 3/5 stars. I still think it's worth $15-$20, so if that's the price, go for it. Maybe get a new one every 6 months. I now have an Otterbox case that I purchased this week. We'll see how that goes.
