…let me explain. I have a nearly 2 year old German Shepherd and I have been wanting to find a harness so I can strap my GoPro on his back and film cool little videos with him when we are out exploring. I figured the GoPro branded harness would be the way to go since its made by GoPro for GoPro’s. But there a quite a few flaws that will probably render this harness useless for most people.

1. The Straps:
The straps are made out of a nice elastic material. It feels like its made out of good quality. But the issue is that these straps cannot be adjusted tight enough to prevent them from coming loose. After a few seconds of movement, the straps have already loosened to the point it makes the camera wobble side to side when my dog is walking. I’m assuming this issue would be worse on a smaller dog.

2. There is no buckling of the straps:
The straps loop around my dogs front legs and chest and are secured back to the mounting plates with a simple hook and loop system. This makes putting on and taking off the harness fairly easy, but it also increases the chances of the entire harness falling off after vigorous movement. Many people have lost cameras due to this according to other reviews.

3. The wobbling:
The straps that keep coming loose, non-existent buckles, and the stretchy-ness of the elastic all combine to create one critical issue. The camera wobbles so much to the point that the footage is nearly unusable. When my dog is walking, there is a constant wobble from left to right. When he is running, there is so much wobbling left to right, front to back, that you nearly become nauseous by trying to view the footage.

To GoPro, these three issues can be corrected by getting rid of a 1-size fits all harness, and introducing 2-3 different sized harnesses. These harnesses would need to use strong and sturdy straps similar to what a normal, good quality dog collar/harness would use. Maybe even with padding on the back of the straps for comfort. It would need a strong buckle to secure the straps as well.

Fixing these issues would convince me to buy another harness to try out. But for now, I do not recommend this to anyone that is wanting usable footage.
