Off-on switch failed during first use so I ordered a replacement. Cuisinart should be able to supply a reliable on-off switch for a $64 jug containing only a switch, heating element, thermostat and blue LED. The replacement kettle looks good and after a couple of weeks I upgraded to 4 stars. This morning the thermostat failed to actuate and the kettle might have boiled itself dry had I not noticed. The reason for this failure was that I had filled the kettle up to 1.7 L, the highest marked level. This might have prevented steam from actuating the thermostat, because I was unable to reproduce the failure at lower liquid levels.
