Customer Review

I have a Dell XPS that is a couple years old and with only one TB3 port. It is used as a desktop replacement. I am constantly shuffling USB-C SSDs and memory cards from my cameras. I was using a portable USB-C Anker hub before for drives and one HDMI from the TB3 port. It couldn't hold up to the bandwidth if I initiated transfers between two drives connected to it and started cycling the connections. The speeds were also pretty abysmal. I replaced the cheap hub and an older Plugable USB 3 dock with the Anker 577. Connected to it, I have HDMI to a 2K monitor, ethernet, several USB-3 SSDs and an external USB3 hub for slower devices. This thing is fast and has been flawless so far. I get the same speeds on my SSDs as I do if connected directly to the laptop's port. No more display flickering. The older storage devices connected to the external USB port are also almost 2x as fast as before. I only wish I had gotten it before. Also a plug for the Plugable. It has been flawless for a number of years, but it just didn't have the newer connectivity I wanted. I agonized between the 2 brands' current offerings before settling on the Anker 577. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. My only beef with it is that the 3' TB3 cable is a little short. My laptop's port is on the left and I need the hub on the right so it's just too short for my use case. That said, it's a very high quality cable and kudos to them for suppling one with the unit.
