I purchased this on Amazon's warehouse deal site. It was advertised as new but repackaged. This is the second item that I have purchased from Amazon's warehouse deals. The first was Whynter ice cream maker which didn't work and Amazon took it back with no questions. This rice cooker however came as advertised. It was new. It had all of the tape and styrofoam packaging and the bubble wrap was still around the end of the cord. I've used the rice cooker twice now and it works flawlessly. Oat meal from their website and the second dish was using the tacook plate with mini steak burgers with rice which was really pretty good. This is the second IH rice cooker that I have purchased in the past year. We have a10 cup Jozirushi brand that we are now going to use when our family gets together and we're keeping this 5.5 cup in the kitchen for my wife and I to use. I bought the tacook rice cooker just to see for myself if it is more than just hype of being able to cook two meals in one pot. Since this model is IH, I was hoping that the steak burgers would have slightly browned from the metal heat souce in the top of the lid. This particular dish called for liquid to cover most of the steak so the end result was it mostly steamed the meat. It was very good however and I look forward to try more recipes using this tacook plate. What was surprising was the rice didn't take on any of the flavors of what was in the tacook plate. The only draw back so far is that the tacook plate is pretty small so don't plan on feeding more then yourself and one other person. Honestly, the tacook plate is probably more of a novelty but I still plan on using it. For me the biggest reason to buy this is it's smaller and I read on a blog that I don't remember the name small batches of rice taste better in a smaller rice cooker than a small batches in a larger rice cooker. The Zojirushi that we bought on here last year makes the best rice that we have ever had! I hope this Tiger will be as good as the Zoji but with using smaller amounts. I'll add more later as we use it more.
