Customer Review

The good is that this is a nice, compact charger providing USB power and 2 spare AC outlets in a single package, allowing me to condense from the separate travel charger + travel power strip that I typically pack. This also provides more power than my old 45W Strip to make my Macbook happier, but only under certain conditions. The casing (particularly the bottom) does seem a bit fingerprint/dirt prone, but otherwise the build quality is good and compact, though the detachable power cord can be a bit bulky.

The power output of this device is a bit confusing. Depending on which sets of ports you have connected will determine what power output that you get. The graphic in the article lists the various power configurations, and you do need to pay attention to which ports are in use for what power in the various 1/2/3/4 port charging illustrations. Supposedly the color of the LED will be blue when you are getting the full 100W power, though it doesn't seem to change colors for me (but my Macbook is reporting 100W charge at present).

To get the 100W output, you must have only one (USB-C) device connected. It seems that even leaving a cable connected to one of the USB-A ports without a device on the other end sometimes causes it to drop to the 2-port output voltage.

Changes/upgrades I'd like to see in a future version of this product, or as optional add-ons:
- An option to purchase a shorter replacement power cord, or even better an adapter that allows the entire strip to hang off of the wall for better portability when needed. The latter could also be sold with international socket adapters.
- A LCD display to show the current output voltage for each port to confirm functionality/configuration
- Add a built-in Wireless charging pad. This could also be a slim add-on that uses 1 USB port and neatly clips onto this compact charger

Edit: Another reason to wish for Anker to sell alternate power cords (or use a standard connector), is that the cord is of a right-angle-style. That's great in many cases, but as I just re-discovered, sometimes when traveling you find an outlet (ie: floor outlet in a library, or an outdoor outlet with cover) where that style simply cannot fit.
