We have an '80s era bread machine we keep on a mobile kitchen cart so it's easy to use, and use it we do! This bread machine makes the best bread we've ever had, and we should know because this is the fourth machine we've bought, replacing the first three due to their failure to make good bread. Since these machines were made so long ago, and the area we have has a high rate of power failures, all of our appliances, computers, TVs, etc., are in a consistent state of being ruined due to resultant power surges. We've lost two desktop computers and two garage door openers, when their circuit boards were fried when our power company got the electricity back on. So, surges not only can be expensive, they can destroy things that aren't replaceable, such as our bread machine. We decided to get a dedicated surge suppressor to protect the machine (and an expensive stand mixer that shares the mobile cart). In checking specifications and buyer reviews, plus being aware of Tripp Lite's reputation for building quality products, we purchased their Isobar 2 Outlet Surge Protector. For the level of protection it provides, combined with the high quality of construction, the Isobar Protector was very reasonably priced. It installed very easily and allows us to use both of our appliances without concern for their risk of damage due to letting them remain "plugged in."
