These come vacuum sealed. The directions say “shake vigorously up to 5 minutes before use” which admittedly, I did not do. I fluffed them up like any regular pillow, karate chopped them from every side, gave them a punch or two and they were good to go. I recommend air fluffing them in the dryer (I live in an apartment so I didn’t make an extra trip to the laundry just to fluff some pillows.) These are definitely a fluffy pillow. The kind you can squish and hide behind during a scary movie. They are not your grandma’s stiff “just for looks” pillow. If you are looking for a good deal on some pillow inserts that look good AND you can have a good nap on, buy these! If you are looking for something quite dense, very full, or something that will stay in the same shape after an apocalypse, you need to look elsewhere.
