The spinning thing in the middle jammed up, I’ve haven’t had this very long maybe 7 months now and I use it about once or twice a week. The motor still hums but it doesn’t spin to grind the coffee. Little disappointed, but was able to look on YouTube to fix the issue. Not sure I would purchase though…

Once upon a time, the name Krups really stood out. It meant quality and dependability. I loved to have a Krups product, as I knew it would supply years of service, and it would meet exacting standards for my coffee experience.

No longer. This is the second grinder that has quit on me in the last 15 months, same model. The first was after about 2 years, and I had made the mistake of washing the grinding cup, so attributed that to my own poor treatment, even if simply endeavoring to do well.

Here, however, I have absolutely babied this grinder. I have treated it with care and according to all specs, and to have it quite on me after only a little over a year, that's simply unacceptable.

It is a real shame, also, as I love the grinder. It is one of the few that doesn't make me hate myself while it is running in the early morning, with a loud, clanging racket. Sadly, complete silence of a machine that has quit is not the alternative I was looking for.

Product support? Nope. Basically, fix it yourself. Literally, it instructs you to take it apart and lubricate the mechanism within. Seriously? Oh, with machine lubricant, for we all simply have that laying around, right?

Once, I would have sang the praises of this grinder, but now not only would I never recommend it, but would not recommend the Krups brand, either. Sad, to see once heralded leaders in manufacturing fall to lower performance standards than Walmart brands.

TERRIBLE PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

Shame on me, for buying this product for the second time and wasting my money.

The first machine I bought in 2019 stopped working with smoke coming out from bottom of the unit. I used it grind small quantity of coffee (once every 3-4 weeks; the machine in total ran for ~ 2 minutes each use, with a 10 second cooling period for every 20 seconds of run time). The machine didn't last for more than 9 months.

I bought another unit from Amazon back in June 2020 and this one stopped working within 6 months, with the same exact issue (smoke from bottom of the unit).

I decided to reach out to KRUPS customer service this time and submitted a warranty ticket with them on 11/13/2020. In line with their product, KRUPS customer service is another example of how to drive away customers from a business. After patiently working with them for about 6 weeks, to get a replacement unit, I had finally given up. I WILL NEVER EVER do business with this company again!

Below is a summary of my interaction with KRUPS customer support - everything is via email and there is no way to talk to a live person (there is a customer service number posted on their website, but calling that number always plays a recorded message stating they are not able to take calls, due to Covid).

1. In response to a ticket I submitted on 11/13/20, I was asked by KRUPS on 11/25/20 to provide the proof of purchase / copy of my invoice, which I sent on the same day (11/25/20).

2. On 11/30/20, KRUPS customer service (Rick) asked me to send an image of the defective unit (with the power cord cut). I was asked to cut the power cord, take a picture of it & send it to them and was told a replacement order for a new grinder will be placed once I send the image. I sent the requested image on the same day (11/30/20).

3. On 12/1/20, I provided my shipping address to Rick, as requested. I also received a confirmation on the same day (12/1/20) that a replacement order for a new grinder was placed and that I will receive the new grinder in about 7 - 14 days.

4. It is 1/4/21 today.... which is more than a month since KRUPS customer service confirmed the replacement order was placed. However, I am yet to get the grinder. I sent several follow-up emails over the last 1 month - unfortunately there isn't a response as of yet.

I purchased this after some research and finding that it was America's Test Kitchen's Top Pick for blade grinders. It did an acceptable job for about a month before crapping out. I wasn't using it everyday, but about once a week to grind coffee for cold brew. I can hear the motor whirring, but the blade no longer spins. It was just after the 30 day mark to return it to Amazon, and Krups wanted me to take it to the nearest "authorized repairer" of which there are only ten in the country (three of those are in New York City), and if you're in flyover country like me the nearest is about a six hour drive. Long story long, I wrote it off and will stay away from Krups going forward. I never write reviews so yeah, clearly a letdown.

Classic but not great. This is exactly what you would expect from a simple blade grinder. It’s been around forever but hasn’t been improved. It works fast, maybe five seconds on average, twice the speed of another brand it replaced, meaning you do have to be careful not to over grind. There is nothing unusually quiet about this model, and I have no idea what the reviews mentioning a double walled lid for quiet operation are talking about. The weak point is the little plastic trigger mechanism which can break off or get clogged with Fine grounds, but if you avoid that it should last for many years.

Had the grinder for two months. Relatively heavy use and beans keep getting stuck between the wall and the grinder causing the motor to spin while the blade doesnt turn. i guess this eventually strips some sort of gear and now the blade doesnt spin at all. Now going through the customer service process which apparently is send it or bring it in for repair. lets see who pays the shipping cost. Additionally the electric cord use to be about a foot longer.. We had a krups before which lasted around 10 years so figured it would be the same..apparently not..

The design is terrible. After using the grinder and when pulling off the lid, the beans stick to the top and go all over the counter top. It makes a big mess and the beans are wasted. There's no way to take it apart and wash each individual piece so more of the beans are wasted. The best you can do is wipe it out with a rag and more is wasted. There's no way to get under the blades or under or around the inside of the machine. NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Purchased “Used - Very Good”. Condition of product was what I would classify as dirty (no pictures). I wondered why my chia seeds didn’t seem to be grinding up and saw the reason when I poured them out. The blade assembly had come apart during its first use. Additionally, a little black rubber gasket on the brass is disintegrating.
Looks like another seller has it for $10 cheaper. I’m returning this one & going with someone else.

My 1st coffee mill and spice grinder lasted over 20 years and was made in France. This newer model lasted a week and was manufactured in Columbia, South America. I used my original mill primarily for grinding nutmeg, and it worked very well until one of the blades finally broke. The new mill did not handle the nutmegs very well, and would often get stuck. It appears that this newer model has a weaker motor, but would probably work well with just coffee beans or spices that are not as hard as a nutmeg.

after 6 weeks of just normal use, it quit working. motor spins, but blade doesn't. No way to get into it to fix it or even see what the problem is. This is the 2nd one that had the same failure. The first one did last a couple years before failing. Seems to be a design flaw.
