Worth it for Building

This saw works quite well for the busy homeowner. I have used this to cut plywood (both 3/4" and 1/2" faced birch) and all manner of dimensional wood. Plenty of power and it is set up so that it is easy to track the plate for accurate cuts. Good ergonomics on the handle and it is comfortable for long use on long cuts. Wish it was a bit lighter, but it is not overweight at all. Good product for various use.

supposedly brand new. but trigger did not work, did not start the saw...

right away, I noticed the packaging was different than other Dewalt tools that I have purchased. This boxed saw from Amazon was not shrink wrapped and no plastic binding, white ties like my other Dewalt tools had. Closer inspection showed that maybe this box has been retaped/resealed. Did I get a returned, defective saw??
Having used circular saws in the past, I still reviewed the Dewalt manual. Assembled factory blade, included in box. Hooked up to normal home power outlet and extension cord. Depressed trigger and nothing, saw did not start. Tried again, saw did not start up, didn't even hum, nothing. Attached another power tool-jig saw to extension cord end and it worked. so it wasn't a lack of power supply.
txt'd with Amazon Customer Service chat, but to no avail. Saw still did not start. Must be a faulty trigger.
Started a return on the saw thru Amazon. When packing back into Dewalt box, noticed the saw appeared slightly used. found sawdust residue under the very small space under the saw. It appears Amazon shipped me a used or maybe refurbished saw...arghhh! So much for my weekend project!!

Every cut is wrong, you need to be very slow to do it well. Also they promised that the blade stop every time and is not. I regret to buy this tool.

Something jacked up about the guide. The saw will not cut straight even with a guide. I really liked this saw until I actually needed it. It will not cut straight. :(

I wrote a raving review of this saw after light use, but then I started having problems. When cutting 1 1/4" counter top I thought things were going well until I realized I am not getting straight cuts. I checked the square on the blade and it was perfect until I sawed with it and then it would go off slightly. I re-squared and tightened the latch and still my cuts are way off. Especially after going through two of these sheets laminated together. At 2 1/2" in depth you can really see how far off the blade is out of square. I tried different feed rate, deeper cuts to keep the blade from bending, and still way out of square. I checked the sole plate and it is not flat. It is possible that this is contributing to the angle of cut. I am fed up. Just read another review that had very similar complaints. Also, when the blade is at it's lowest point (max. cutting capacity) you can not use any of the standard edge guides. The motor hits the guide. So back to the store I go. I am so disappointed.

Nice tool, but one bad feature

The auxiliary handle is attached to the field housing with a flimsy bracket. If the saw is dropped, it's likely to land on the handle, causing it to break off. This requires replacing the entire field housing.

Powerful, Easy to Use, Won't cut straight.

Love the saw, but back it goes. Just ruined a $40 sheet of T111 because either something isn't aligned correctly or the saw blade is to thin for its power.

Even at simple view looks like new at same time was looking like is refurbished (or used) in some way. Because was not complete clean, had traces of dust in some spots. + it's making a strange sound when it's finishing. Probably will return (or something...)
