Great headlamp, but a few drawbacks.

Great, but not prefect. It's hard to get the batteries out without a tool or long fingernails. The form factor is too squared to be comfortable in your pocket, unlike most equivalent Petzl lamps. The super sensitive touch button on the side is too sensitive and unnecessary. You bump it accidently and all of a sudden you have max power when you don't want it. Give me a basic single button operation any day in place of this. I do like the lock feature, which stops the headlamp turning on in your pocket, and I with Petzl would add something similar (maybe a long press of their single button).

It's great, very bright. I love the dimming and easy switching between max brightness and dimmed. The controls are pretty confusing when I first started using it, so it took some time to get used to them.

I use it whenever I have to work in my sound system cabinet because there is not enough light. The headlamp allows for hands free work. The brightness is perfect. I took my dogs for a walk when it was dark and the headlamp provided a lot of illumination. Perfect for walking dogs. The battery indicator is a nice feature. If I used it everyday for dog walking, I'd get a rechargeable headlamp. But the 3 AAA batteries are easy to replace and last a fair amount to time. I'd buy it again

I had a milwaukee of similar size and brightness. This is a better light than the milwaukee and goes through less batteries. The milwaukee on off switch melted when in contact with petroleum products. This light doesn't seem to suffer the same problem.

My husband loves this headlamp! He uses it everyday. He actually has 2 now. When he lets our dogs out at night he can follow them and be sure there are no other animals in the yard. It is plenty bright enough see see them.

Decent light at a VERY decent price

Took a bit of getting used to as the button functions were different to the old light I had. But that is in no way a fault of the light design, by the end of my first night camping it became second nature. Are there better lights in the market, I’m sure there are. Are there better lights at this price point with the same features? Probably not much

Too finicky

I LOVED the previous version of this headlamp. It was the best headlamp ever ( though the off-lock wasn’t foolproof). I had two of them for camping etc but accidentally broke one (my fault). I was happy to replace it with the new upgraded version, but sadly this version is a huge disappointment . The buttons are too stiff, making it hard to control. And the “memory” function, that automatically returns the lamp to a previous brightness setting, is too sensitive. If I go to touch the lamp to make a small adjustment, it suddenly jumps back to a previous setting and I have to start all over. And sometimes it just jumps to full brightness for no reason. Honestly, I now hate this headlamp. What a bummer.

Great unit with a lockout built in.

Most people purchasing headlamps do not think about a lockout to keep the unit from being turned prematurely. At least I didn’t. I found out this one does have this feature and that most headlamps do not have this feature. I pulled this one out one day out of pack finding then batteries dead because I didn’t activate the feature. This I a must have feature in my opinion if you pack in artificial light. So much so that I bought my son- in - law one to take in his next hunting trip. Awesome headlamp!! Black Diamond is awesome!
