they really just made poor man's alien: isolation fr
it was fine I guess. I liked the bleak setting and all the necessary survival horror mechanics were solid, however game in general seemed kinda bland. It was all just functional, nothing really stood out, there was maybe one or two sort of memorable moments. No actual puzzles, despite cool setting, all the worldbuilding and thing with the roman ruins and who/what the monster is didn't do it for me either. I liked the generator mechanic, but it didn't bring that much to the table imo, it was more impactful in a sense that it was kinda spooky when lights went out during exploration, it brought some tention I guess.
Thing that severly soured my experience is definitely the monster. I'm sorry, but there was just too much bullshit, rng was crazy, you could've done everything right and this fucker would still pop out of its damn hole, that he just teleported to, at the most inconvenient moment. At certain point it just stopped being fun, tense, scary and became tedious, irritating and all the atmosphere could was thrown out of the window, couldn't even care that much about the story (however okay-ish it was) because of it.
This was my first proper experience with amnesia series so I'm not saying all of this from a perspective of a disappointed amnesia fan, just so you know.
