An HD remaster of Devil May Cry, first made available in "Devil May Cry HD Collection." In the first installment of the Devil May Cry series, the player controls Dante as he faces off against the resurrected Demon Emperor, Mundus. The game introduces Dante's abilities, like Devil Trigger which transforms him into a demon, swordplay, gun-slinging, and stylish combos, all of which have become a staple of the series.

Pretty middle of the road action game with some minor horror elements, cool boss fights, and embarrassingly bad writing. Thankfully refined dialogue isn't exactly what the game was going for, and its strengths lie elsewhere.

This game needs a remake something fierce. I love the later games, and it's interesting to see where a lot of those mechanics came from, but this game still doesn't play like the future games. In a lot of ways, it's Resident Evil with a sword and a jump button. A remake bringing it more in line with the likes of 3 and 5 mechanically, and fleshing out the story would be amazing to see.
