yeah yeah yeah Phil Fish this Phillipe Poisson that whatever

Fez is a wonderful, cryptic, serene experience if you let it take you where it wants. if you don't expect a regular platformer, or a regular puzzle game, or a regular adventure game, and you instead resolve to bathe in its atmosphere and enjoy its silence, you'll find Fez to be pretty singular. and I will make the bold critic's claim that it will only get more beloved over time, as the memories of disappointed players who expected something different fade along with those of the designer's rude online persona and as games of the sort, like void stranger, become more popular.

on another note, I have played through this game roughly every 6 years for no reason really, and the balance of familiarity and forgetfulness I feel on my replays has been pretty odd! in a nice way. i first played it on XBLA when it came out, later on my laptop sometime during college (I remember playing it in my hometown's public library... that might have been the last time I was there... but why was I there playing Fez???), and now on a different laptop hooked up to a big TV. damn this game is gorgeous on a big TV!!! I did exactly half of the cubes today and I suppose I'll do the other half sometime this week or next...

this was pretty fun with my friends! we played through (I think) most of the first storyline's levels. it excels at teetering on the edge of chaos.

more interesting than i had initially thought. the water rising mechanic makes everything tense, but the aesthetics kind of actually hurt my eyes.

... oh also I screamed when I found out that this game is by the guy that made else heart break
