An England fan from Kent has recalled how nervous he felt the last time he watched the Three Lions play their next opponents at Euro 2024.

Eddie Allcorn, from Canterbury, will attend his 177th England match tonight when England take on Denmark in a group stage game.

Mr Allcorn was at the last England v Denmark match in a major tournament three years ago, when England won a Euro semi-final 2-1 at Wembley.

He said: "I was terrified at that game, but it was an honour to be there.

"There is less pressure on us now after we won the first game in a gritty way. The young players did really well."

England beat Serbia on Sunday in their opening fixture at the Gersenklichen - Veltins Arena, Schalke Stadium.

Mr Allcorn has conditional tickets to all of England's matches in the tournament in Germany, but says they have potentially tough matches in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, if the top seeds get through to the latter stages.

Mr Allcorn said that the England fans behaviour in face of travel problems was fantastic

Mr Allcorn has been to several tournaments since his first England game in 1981, and says that transport issues are a common problem when travelling to and from matches.

He told the BBC that it took him just over four hours to travel just over five miles (9km) from the venue of England's match against Serbia to his accommodation.

After the match, Mr Allcorn had to wait an hour-and-a-half before boarding a tram back to Gelsenkirchen central station, where many fans missed booked trains.

But the Gillingham fan said: "England fans' behaviour in face of travel problems was fantastic.

"They were all milling with Germans and Serbians. Their behaviour was amicable, helpful and calm."
