Raith Rovers missed the opportunity to go top of the Scottish Championship for the first time since January as they were held to a goalless draw against Queen's Park at Hampden.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between until Rovers peppered the hosts' box in the dying stages, but it was too little, too late.

Calum Ferrie in the home goal was forced into a string of strong saves, most notably keeping out the lively Sam Stanton with an impressive claw and substitute Callum Smith with a low block, while Sean Welsh came closest for Queen's.

Rovers move level on points with Dundee United - who were stunned 3-1 at Dunfermline on Friday - but remain second on goal difference.

Callum Davidson's Queen's Park drop to eighth, two points above the relegation play-off spot.

Queen's Park head coach Callum Davidson: "It was a strange game. I felt they were the better team in the opening 10-15 minutes and the final 10-15 minutes. In between, we controlled the game without really creating too much.

"Calum pulled off an unbelievable save to earn us a point, I know that's what he is there to do but that was an outstanding save."

Raith Rovers manager Ian Murray: "It's been a fantastic week's work from the boys. Three clean sheets, we've pegged back four points on Dundee United so we're really happy.

"Queen's Park are a really good side, this is a really tough place to come. When you find a goalkeeper like Calum Ferrie on form like that, it is very, very difficult."
