What to Consider in a Mask for Cycling
While the quality of much cycling gear comes down to comfort, you also have safety to consider when selecting a mask. While your mask should fit comfortably so you can wear it without constantly adjusting and touching, it’s also important that it fits snugly to more effectively trap your breath and prevent glasses fog. If you’re concerned about breathability, look for moisture-wicking and flexible materials like spandex. Adjustable ear loops and a wire nose bridge can also go a long way toward creating the right fit.
And, as always, keep in mind these CDC guidelines when selecting a face covering:
- A proper mask should have two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric.
- Make sure it completely covers your nose and mouth and fits snugly against the sides of your face without leaving gaps.
