Penha Longa Resort, hotel in Sintra

Penha Longa is an elegant palazzo-style estate situated among the rolling hills of the Sintra Cascais Nature Reserve.

I liked everything, from the staff welcoming us when we arrived at the hotel (with cold drinks and a special kids check-in, which my son loved a lot) to the end of our holidays. All the staff were polite and tried their best to make our stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Our special thanks are to Alexandra and Pankaj, who served us breakfast. They were always friendly and very attentive to all our needs/ requests. All our family enjoyed our holidays and left with a wish to get back.

Nice calm area, with a nice garden to have a snack or drink. But still right next to the city center (10min walk). We had a spacious room. They have parking and allowed us to park past check out that was much appreciated given the town chaos.

    Definitely worth visiting!

Definitely worth visiting! Beautiful place just outside of Lisbon. Historical Moorish Castle, colorful Pena Palace and lovely to walk through gardens Quinta da Regaleira. The city with souvenir shops and wine tasting add to the atmosphere. A bit busy in summer, so I´d recommend coming before/after ;)

The rich history woven through cobblestone roads and hills was as incredible to view as it was to learn about. The beautiful architecture in the centre is captivating, but you can easily leave the tourist crowds and have a breath of fresh air in one of the beautiful gardens. Restaurants are numerous and good, we tried the Taberna and enjoyed it very much. The shopping temptation is always there, to buy super quality traditional items such as table clothes or hand-painted ceramics. I ended buying a leather belt, thus saving my trousers, for a cost of €20, which is excellent value for a great quality.

Easy to get around Sintra either by using the bus options provided or by walking. Uber not suggested, overpriced! Do you love walking? Walk around enjoy everything but wear good walking shoes! Superb salads and finger food at Larmajat, Marvelous dinner at Como Restaurant and Volta e Meia Restaurant also with special dishes... All had good service ... Must see palaces were Monserrate my favourite, Pena Palace (buy ticket for bus) and Regaleira Palace.... Sintra is a majestic land you will feel the magic ENJOY!

If you are looking for a vacation “home away from home”, looking no further! I just spent a month in Sintra this summer and stayed at this beautiful one-bedroom apartment for the entire time. The host, Zé, is one of the most genuinely nice, kind-hearted people I have met! She is a true entrepreneur, a life-long world traveler herself, she knows how to fully enjoy life, and how to ensure her guests’ stay is the most comfortable. She went above and beyond, treated me, and her other guests, as her own family. Literally, she stole my heart with her superb, welcoming hospitality. The location is unbeatable, in a quiet, secluded area right in the core of the touristy old town of Sintra. You can open the windows and door for the summer breeze and still enjoy the privacy of the place. Merely 1-2 minute walk, you are surrounded by ALL the bustling, Portuguese signature style shops, bakeries, cafes and restaurants. It has easy access to the major tourist attractions in and around Sintra, no matter you are opting for public transport, Uber, taxi, tuk tuk or the horse carriage ride. Personally, I have a higher-than-average expectation when it comes to tidiness and cleanliness. The apartment I stayed in exceeded all my expectations. It is clean, fully equipped with all the necessities you would need for a home, such as a full kitchen, microwave, full size kettle, best Portuguese coffee machine (hmmm… not the hotels’ classic drip coffee type), dishwasher, and laundry. The bed is super comfortable with thick, high-end cotton linen. Bathroom is spacious and modern, meeting the North American standards (not the Paris compact size). When I returned to my own house, I realized the hair dryer I used there is better than what I have at home – LOL Thank you, Zé! Thank you for your warm, open arms, to such a “home sweet home” for my unforgettable summer of 2024!

Too jammed up with cars, the area is on a high mountain with way excessive amounts of cars. It's much too busy but soo beautiful, majestic and the views are too dye for. Feel bad for the locals, there needs to be a curtailing of the amount of tourists allowed daily.

Room was airy, well- ventilated, and one could open the balcony door for fresh air. Lovely, quiet, view. Bed and bathroom linen were very good. Furniture met all requirements- closet space, room for suitcases, spacious beside tables, mirrors, extra chair etc. Breakfast was excellent quality and the best we had among 4 hotels we stayed at in Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto and Sintra. Staff were very helpful, courteous, friendly, professional and knowledgeable.

Lovely room, lovely home, lovely owners and very accommodating. Parking was extremely easy and safe as well. Excellent location a few minutes from the beach and in the gorgeous coastal forest area in the surrounds. And after traveling for a number of years, this would be a region I would love to return to and explore more. One of the most charming areas of Portugal.
