I would not visit again , as I had higher expectations. The city is too big and a car is a must. There are no open beaches hence you go there for the beach, all are surrounded by mountains and rocky. Must visit the Bodrum castle/museum. Beach in the town is not very enjoyable, therefore I would recommend to take a boat trip with possibility to swim in different bays. Beutiful! Safe! We felt safe moving around! Everyone was helpful, willing to help with all our queries and concerns, (directions etc). Lots of activities! Lots of places to visit! Market, Shops! Etc. Easy ride to other destinations, by bus and taxis (reasonable fares). Food! Hmmmmm fantastic! Various cuisines, (Fresh, delicious) Bodrum is a remarkable city! This is our first visit to Turkey. Bodrum city is a tourist strip anf trap along the beach/harbour front with a town behind. If you are interested in cultural activities it has one of the seven wonders of the world there (well, the ruins anyway). The food was good but expensive. In fact, eveything was expensive. If you wanted to forgo an expensive evening meal for a cheap self-made meal you would be hard pressed to find a decent supermarket with fresh fruit, even in the town part.

Brilliant place with everything accessible on foot. Restaurants, shopping streets, beaches all in one place. Perfect for couples. The sea is very clean with no jellyfish hanging around and it is refreshingly cold (in a good sense!) during the hot summer days. Public transport is also reliable and if you are young and willing to walk a few minutes, there is no need to rent a car. Airport access 5 euros with A/Cd buses.DavidHungary - Scored 1010

We loved our time in Bodrum City. We went on a stunning day boat trip, ate at gorgeous restaurants, visited Bodrum Castle, loved shopping in the alleys and took a bus ride to Yalikavak to see the superyachts and high end shops.
