FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendor and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic center or the busy Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for a vacation in Istanbul.

Been here dozen of time but almost 6 years past from my last visit. I Couldn't belive the prices, inflation is crazy high. Prices are crazy high at Istanbul airport, for example you need to pay 80 TL for a small water which is 10 TL in city and used to be 0.5 TL at 2019. Probably I will not back again if this inflation keep skyrocketing, cause it not worth it

Get ready for unfriendly and rude people.

Get ready for unfriendly and rude people. I was very disappointed. Unfortunately this is a tourist trap and rip off. The taxi guy charged us double from Sultanahmet to Taksim - did not turn on the meter. The restaurants are very aggressive and when you are looking at the menu (which is posted outside the restaurant) and decide not to eat there, they make negative comments. People are not friendly- even asking for directions, it seems like a task for people. Restaurants can be pricey. If I ever travel to Turkey, I would rather visit other cities and avoid Istanbul. Taksim square and Istiqlal should be avoided - unless you prefer to shop brand names. I love the historical aspects of the city- the architecture, palaces, mosques but honestly the people in Istanbul are a disappointment. Avoid grand bazaar and the spice market- over priced and tourist traps.

    Some interesting places to see.

Some interesting places to see. People are very rude and unhelpful. Difficult to get and find stuff if you don't speak the language. Everything very expensive compared to what you research on TripAdvisor, YouTube etc . Once you buy your Istanbulkart which is a travel card for all public transport, you have to pay 130 TL, which you cannot get back. It is a ripoff. Also if you have credit on when you leave the city, you lose that too. Machines also don't take multiple notes at a time which is stupid, so if you only have 20's you would need to do 10 transactions to load 200TL onto your travel card. Don't shop inside the Grand bazaar, shops just a street outside are way cheaper. City is full of fake products, I don't understand how the big brands like Gucci, LV, Prada, Balenciaga etc allow this. And it is every single shop. And not hidden like in Thailand where they take you to the back of the store for the fake handbags. All the main attractions don't have their own websites to purchase tickets online. You end up on a reseller website and pay double the amount. If you want to pay proper TL value, you must stand in the long queues. They really need to have their own websites. Hagia Sophia now charging a hefty 35€ fee, even though it's a mosque which is not supposed to charge entry, and you are still not allowed on certain floor inside. It's another ripoff. Lots of things really off-putting of this city.

I really wanted to catch all the key sites, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the ancient Cisterns, and to cross the Galata Bridge and visit the Galata Tower. As a bonus a boat trip up the Bosphorus towards the Black Sea (90 minutes), and a trip across to Asia (Uskudar or Kadikoy) was a very gfood thing to have done. The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts and the Archaeology Museum were well worth a visit as well

The most beautiful town I have ever been.

The most beautiful town I have ever been. It is the atmosphere and the mixture of east and west, the colors, the smells and the foods. Of course needs some improvements like cleanliness, poverty, respect of other religions and monuments, not so expensive tickets, etc.

In all of our many years of travelling, this is the best customer service we have ever experienced. The staff here are simply exceptional. The rooms are beautiful and big. The location is perfect. The breakfast is tasty and huge. The hotel organised laundry, an airport transfer and a Bosphorus cruise for us and it all went flawlessly. They also upgraded us free of charge. This was a perfect experience and we will stay here again on our next visit in Istanbul!

A great little hotel in Sultanahmet within 5 minutes walk Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The hospitality of the staff is excellent, very friendly and attentive. They are happy to book your airport transfers and help with suggestions and bookings. Breakfast is excellent - a good selection of continental/Turkish style buffet, with a selection of cooked options. Would definitely stay again if we return to Istanbul.
