How the Bills are continuing to give back to Western New York two years removed from 5/14 racist mass shooting

To continue to commemorate and honor the 10 lives lost in the 5/14 racist mass shooting at Tops Supermarket in 2022, the Buffalo Bills are proud to partner with and support several local events happening on May 14, 2024.

The Bills remain committed to honoring the memory of Aaron Salter Jr., Andre Mackniel, Celestine Chaney, Geraldine Talley, Heyward Patterson, Katherine Massey, Margus Morrison, Pearl Young, Roberta Drury, and Ruth Whitfield.

Below are ways to support the community on the anniversary of May 14.

  • The Bills Foundation pledged a $270,979 commitment over 3-years to the Buffalo Healthy Community Store Initiative.
  • The program works to address disparities in food access in Buffalo's East Side by creating a culture of health through engagement of residents in a healthy lifestyle in partnership with neighborhood stores.

  • Part of Legacy514 initiative
  • Legacy514 strives to foster a culture of compassion, inclusivity, and social responsibility through our programs, collaborative partnerships, and advocacy efforts.
  • Bruce Smith Celebrity Gala will be held June 23, 2024. Tickets can be purchased here.
  • Bruce Smith Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held June 24, 2024. Tickets can be purchased here.
  • A collaborative community memorial to honor victims of the racially motivated shooting on May 14th in Buffalo, NY.
  • Cyanotype flags that will be displayed throughout the Buffalo community, spreading messages of hope and remembrance on the second anniversary of the mass shooting.
  • Second Chapter Bookstore and Literary Freedom are hosting the second annual bookstore pop-up on Jefferson Avenue and Landon Street on Tuesday, May 14 at 4:30 p.m.
  • The event is FREE to the public.
  • Bills bags and activities for kids will be provided.
  • Support Jillian Hanseworth's Buffalo Books initiative.
