  • Ravens' Nate Wiggins: Back at practice Thursday

Wiggins (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Wiggins missed a little less than a week of practice time. The first-round rookie's 2024 role is unclear, as Baltimore's cornerback depth chart has yet to really shake out behind veteran Marlon Humphrey. Brandon Stephens and Arthur Maulet are also in the mix for starting reps.

  • Ravens' Nate Wiggins: Considered day-to-day

Wiggins is considered day-to-day after suffering a shoulder injury during Friday's preseason game against the Eagles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The 2024 first-round pick is expected to be ready for Week 1, per Rapoport. Wiggins' role for the Ravens remains unclear, though he possesses speed (4.28-second 40), coverage skills and a track record as the top cover corner for an elite Clemson defense in 2023. Wiggins' size (6-foot-1, 173 pounds), however, was a slight concern coming out of college.

  • Ravens' Nate Wiggins: Avoids serious injury

The Ravens are hopeful that Wiggins (shoulder) will be ready for Week 1, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Wiggins injured his shoulder in Friday's 16-13 preseason loss to the Eagles. A top defender for a Clemson's top tier defense in 2023, the cornerback was selected 30th overall by the Ravens. Although he could be viewed as a slight project, the rookie figures to make an impact in the secondary at some point this season when healthy.

  • Ravens' Nate Wiggins: Baltimore scoops up at 30th overall

The Ravens selected Wiggins in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 30th overall. Wiggins is awfully skinny at 6-foot-1, 173 pounds, and with such a light frame comes reasonable concerns about run defense. He won't turn 21 until Aug. 28, however, and his frame clearly has room to add some weight if necessary. Wiggins can add mass to his frame with time, but the other cornerbacks in this class can't acquire what Wiggins has innately: elite speed (4.28-second 40) and proven coverage ability. He was the top defender on a smothering Clemson pass defense in 2023, and the Ravens have to be one of the best teams in the league for developing defensive talents. Perhaps he's a slight project, but Wiggins should fully arrive for Baltimore at some point in the near future.
