Wilson only saw double-digit touches once in 2023 and we don't expect that to change in 2024. He'll be battling Jaylen Wright, Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks for the RB3 role in Miami and his best chance for Fantasy relevance might be to lose that battle, get cut and find a job with less competition. Barring multiple injuries we do not expect Wilson to be a factor in Fantasy Football in 2024 and we would only advise holding him in deep leagues with more than 20-man rosters.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Back from broken nose

Wilson rushed four times for minus-1 yard and caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Friday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers. It was revealed during the game that Wilson broke his nose earlier in August, per Alain Poupart of Sports Illustrated, which explains his absence from Miami's second preseason game. Wilson didn't do much in this preseason finale, but he scored a touchdown in the preseason opener against the Falcons. Miami will definitely keep Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright on the roster at running back, so Wilson's at risk of being a surprise cut prior to the Sept. 8 regular-season opener against the Jaguars.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Not in uniform Saturday

Wilson, Ahmed and Jaylen Wright aren't in uniform for Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post reports. The Dolphins are expected to play a lot of their key players, possibly including RBs Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. However, it'll be surprising if either of those guys plays beyond the first few drives, which means Chris Brooks should get a ton of playing time if Wilson, Ahmed and Wright are all held out.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Finds end zone in preseason win

Wilson rushed five times for seven yards and secured three of four targets for 18 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 20-13 preseason win over the Falcons on Friday night. Wilson drew the start with both Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane sitting out, but as his final line implies, the veteran back could barely get anything going on the ground. However, Wilson showed off his trademark pass-catching acumen with solid work through the air, and he recorded Miami's first touchdown of the night on a six-yard reception early in the second quarter. Wilson did see rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright, who entered the game after him, impress with 55 rush yards and a score on the ground, and the talented Tennessee product represents Wilson's biggest threat to a roster spot.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Not assured of roster spot?

Wilson is part of a crowded backfield alongside Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright, Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald reports. Wilson may be a favorite of coach Mike McDaniel, but the 28-year-old nonetheless faces a difficult path to earning a roster spot if the three aforementioned RBs stay healthy this summer. With those three being roster locks, the Dolphins may end up having Wilson, Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks competing for one or two spots on the practice squad. Wilson agreed to a contract restructure in March, dropping his base salary to $1.12 million while guaranteeing him $400,000, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Quiet in wild-card loss

Wilson secured one of two targets for six yards during the Dolphins' 26-7 wild-card loss to Kansas City on Saturday. Wilson had a quiet end to an underwhelming 2023 campaign in which he racked up 188 rushing yards on 41 carries (4.6 average) across 10 regular-season appearances, plus 14 catches for 85 yards on 17 targets. Despite missing the first six games of the season to rib and finger injuries and seeing a substantial downtick in total production, Wilson's end-of-year efficiency metrics still stand out, and his versatility makes him a valuable depth piece for Miami behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. Wilson's set to make $3 million in 2024 on the final season of his current contract, but the Dolphins could cut him loose this offseason while only incurring a $782,500 dead-cap hit, meaning that in order to stay with the team he will likely have to negotiate a restructure.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Season-high snap count in finale

Wilson rushed nine times for 45 yards in Sunday's 21-14 loss to Buffalo. Wilson worked as the No. 2 option out of the backfield behind De'Von Achane (toe) while Raheem Mostert (knee) was sidelined Sunday. He was efficient in limited action, though not to the extent that Mostert and Achane have proven this season, and the Dolphins appear optimistic that their top two tailbacks will be available for Saturday's wild-card game in Kansas City. Mostert's availability looks the most up in the air, but if either he or Achane is sidelined for the playoff opener, Wilson will again be in line for an elevated role. Across 10 regular-season appearances, Wilson accrued 188 rushing yards on 41 attempts (4.6 average), plus 14 catches for 85 yards on 17 targets.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Limited role Sunday

Wilson ran for 21 yards on three carries and caught three passes for 13 yards on four targets in Sunday's 56-19 loss to the Ravens. The Ravens consistently added scoreboard distance between themselves and Miami over the course of the game, and as the Dolphins fell behind there was increasingly less room for Wilson in the game plan. In a closer game the Dolphins might have had more carries to distribute, but even with Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) out Wilson saw only three carries to De'Von Achane's 14. Wilson appears safely behind both Mostert and Achane at this point, though if either were to miss time Wilson could pop back up on the mainstream fantasy radar.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Could have expanded profile Sunday

Wilson is likely to have an expanded role as the Dolphins' No. 2 back behind De'Von Achane in Sunday's game against the Ravens with Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) likely to be inactive for the contest, Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network report. Mostert is officially listed as questionable but is expected to miss his first game of the season after he managed just one limited practice this week while tending to his pair of injuries. The explosive Achane could make a push for a 20-touch workload Sunday with Mostert out of the picture, but the Dolphins will still likely attempt to keep the rookie fresh by mixing Wilson and perhaps even third-stringer Chris Brooks into the backfield. While Mostert was limited due to his injuries in the Dolphins' 22-20 win over the Cowboys in Week 16, Wilson played 15 snaps -- his most since Week 12 -- and finished with five carries for 21 yards and one catch for four yards.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Handles six touches

Wilson rushed five times for 21 yards and secured his only target for four yards during Sunday's 22-20 win over Dallas. Wilson was moderately productive in limited action, as he once again handled a reserve role behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. The versatile veteran doesn't have a path to fantasy relevance or double-digit touches unless Miami's depth chart ahead of him changes. He projects for similar usage Week 17 at Baltimore.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Quiet again in No. 3 role

Wilson rushed two times for five yards during Sunday's 30-0 win over the Jets. He also secured one of two targets for one yard. Wilson continues to handle a clear depth role with Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane both healthy. It's difficult to imagine a path for Wilson to handle a relevant workload without at least one of the starters ahead of him missing time, meaning he remains off the fantasy radar heading into a key Week 16 matchup against Dallas.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

I'm not expecting De'Von Achane (knee) to play in Week 13 at Washington, but that's the situation to monitor this week when it comes to Wilson. If Achane is out, then Wilson is worth using as a flex option in all leagues. He just had his best game of the season in Week 12 at the Jets with 11 carries for 56 yards and three catches for 17 yards on three targets, and hopefully he can build off that performance as he works in tandem with Raheem Mostert. The Commanders have allowed a running back to score at least 13.0 PPR points in seven games in a row, and there should be room for Mostert to be a top-10 running back in all leagues, with Wilson as a standout flex.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Week 13 Adds (RB Preview)

Wilson is a good stash just because of the injury history of Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. If Achane misses Week 13 against Washington then Wilson would also be a good flex play. Wilson played a season-high 33% of the snaps in Week 12 and turned 14 touches into 73 yards and 10.3 PPR Fantasy points.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Active Friday, likely as No. 2 back

Wilson is active and is expected to serve as the Dolphins' top backup running back behind starter Raheem Mostert in Friday's game against the Jets with De'Von Achane (knee) inactive for the contest. In Achane's return from injured reserve during the Dolphins' Week 11 win over the Raiders, Wilson found himself inactive while Miami went with Mostert, Achane and Salvon Ahmed as its three running backs. However, with Ahmed suffering a season-ending foot injury in that contest and with Achane now sidelined for at least the Week 12 game after tweaking his knee in the team's win over Las Vegas, Wilson will re-enter the Miami backfield mix. Mostert is still expected to see the majority of the snaps and touches at running back Week 12, but while he was available for Weeks 7 through 9 during Achane's stint on IR, Wilson averaged 2.3 carries and 2.3 targets per contest. Given that the Dolphins enter Friday's contest as heavy favorites, Wilson could be in store for more touches than usual if Miami is able to establish a comfortable lead early on.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Expected to play Week 12

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday that he expects Wilson to play in Friday's game against the Jets, Daniel Oyefusi of The Miami Herald reports. Wilson was a healthy inactive in Miami's 20-13 win over the Raiders in Week 11, as the team welcomed De'Von Achane back from a knee injury. Per Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post, McDaniel mentioned Salvon Ahmed's special teams contributions as a reason that the team went with Ahmed over Wilson as the third running back behind Raheem Mostert and Achane. Ahmed (foot) has since been placed on injured reserve with a season-ending injury, while Achane (knee) is uncertain to play Friday. As a result, Wilson should have a role in team's running back rotation against the Jets behind Mostert, whose practice reps have been capped this week due to ankle and knee injuries.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Healthy inactive for Week 11

Wilson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Wilson's status as a healthy inactive for Week 11 represents a steep fall for a player who averaged 4.9 yards per carry and scored six touchdowns in 16 games a season ago, but it likely speaks to the confidence the Dolphins have in the health of rookie De'Von Achane (knee), who will make his return from injured reserve Sunday. After the tandem of Achane and Raheem Mostert proved to be a lethal one through the first five weeks of the season while Wilson was on IR with an injury of his own, Wilson looks as though he could be an afterthought in the backfield rotation moving forward. In addition to Achane and Mostert, Salvon Ahmed is also active as the team's No. 3 back, though he's presumably getting the nod over Wilson due to his responsibilities on special teams.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Just one touch in debut

Wilson secured his only target for four yards during Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Eagles. He did not record a carry. Wilson was an afterthought behind both Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed in his season debut. The veteran may simply still be rusty after having missed the first six games of the season due to multiple injuries, but fantasy managers will want to see him handle a notable workload before considering him a trustworthy lineup option, especially with a matchup against New England's stout defense coming in Week 8.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Three straight FPs but still on IR

Wilson (ribs/finger) was a full participant for a third consecutive practice Friday. Wilson practiced without limitations this week, and the Dolphins opened up a spot on their 53-man roster by moving fellow running back Chris Brooks (ankle) to injured reserve Friday, so all signs point to the former coming off injured reserve to suit up Sunday against the Eagles. Once he's officially activated, Wilson will likely leapfrog Salvon Ahmed as the primary backup to Raheem Mostert, at least until productive rookie De'Von Achane (knee) returns from his own IR stint.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

First, you need to make sure Wilson plays this week; if he doesn't then Salvon Ahmed will take his place. But then you need to understand that the matchup will be tough for Wilson, then figure he will play around 20 snaps and maybe see 10 touches. There are a lot of must-start players in this game, but Wilson isn't one of them.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Not ready for Sunday

Wilson (ribs/finger) was not activated off injured reserve Saturday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. This was always going to be the likely conclusion after Wilson was listed as doubtful following Friday's final injury report. As a result, Raheem Mostert will be the main ball carrier in a tremendous matchup against the Panthers, with Salvon Ahmed figuring to be the next man up.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Sneaky Sleeper (Lineup Decisions)

Once it's clear that Wilson will play, the matchup combined with the Dolphins' approach to utilize multiple backs should put Wilson in position to have some good opportunities. Remember, Wilson's injury was to his abdomen, not his legs, so there might not be much of a limit on how much work he'll do (though it's unlikely he'll have a ton of touches). I'd take my chances with him over Samaje Perine, Jerick McKinnon and Antonio Gibson.
