He's now posted multiple RBI in three of his last four games and has recorded an extra-base hit in four of his last five games. Since returning to action, Betts is hitting .275/.321/.529 with three homers, 11 RBI, seven runs, a steal and a 4:11 BB:K in 57 plate appearances.

Over his last five games, he's gone 8-for-20 (.400) with two homers and four RBI. Betts' power was down even before the injury, but he's still slugging .505 over 77 contests this season. Betts is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Belts homer in return

Betts went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an RBI single and a stolen base during Monday's 5-2 win over the Brewers. Despite spending nearly two months on the injured list due to a fractured left hand and not going on a rehab assignment, Betts didn't show any rust Monday. Instead, he clubbed a two-run homer off Freddy Peralta in the third inning and plated Shohei Ohtani on a single in the seventh. Betts is slashing .307/.406/.498 with 11 homers across 335 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Makes return from IL

The Dodgers reinstated Betts (hand) from the 10-day injured list Monday. He will start in right field and bat second in the Dodgers' series opener in Milwaukee. Los Angeles designated utility man Amed Rosario for assignment to clear room on the active roster for Betts, who will return to the lineup Monday for his first start since June 16. Despite being sidelined for nearly two months, Betts did not require a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated, as the Dodgers instead had him ramp up through live at-bats during batting practice this past week. Betts has made all 72 of his starts this season at either shortstop or second base, but he is set to take on a full-time role in right field now that he has made a full recovery from a fractured left wrist. Jason Heyward is expected to lose out on a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching as a result of Betts' return.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Will play right field upon return

Betts (hand) will play right field when he returns Monday against the Brewers, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Betts noted Friday that the decision to move off shortstop was "mostly" mutual between him and manager Dave Roberts, and the superstar acknowledged that the Dodgers' best chance to win likely comes with him in right field, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. That means Nick Ahmed and Miguel Rojas will continue to split time at shortstop, while Jason Heyward sees less playing time in the outfield. Roberts could also tinker with his lineup depending on who's on the mound for the opposition. Betts has been sidelined since June 17 due to a bone fracture in his left wrist. Prior to the injury, he was slashing .304/.405/.488 with nine stolen bases, 10 home runs and 40 RBI across 331 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Set to bat second upon return

Betts (hand) is expected to play shortstop and bat second in the Dodgers' lineup when he returns from the 10-day injured list, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. Betts is targeting a return to the major-league roster during the team's upcoming road trip that begins Monday, and when he returns, he'll be batting one slot back in the lineup. Betts has spent the entirety of the year as the leadoff hitter for Los Angeles, but he'll now operate in the No. 2 hole behind Shohei Ohtani and ahead of Freddie Freeman, breaking up the left-handers. With Ohtani's on-base percentage sitting at .397 on the year, the move in the lineup could lead to a slight increase in RBI opportunities for Betts.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Targeting return during road trip

The Dodgers are hopeful that Betts (hand) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list during their next road trip, which begins Aug. 12 in Milwaukee, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Betts has been out since mid-June after suffering a fracture in his left wrist/hand, but he took batting practice with the team Wednesday. The Dodgers will begin their next road trip in Milwaukee with a four-game set with the Brewers before playing three games in St. Louis. If the timeline holds true, Betts will likely begin a minor-league rehab assignment in the coming days.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Taking batting practice

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Betts (hand) is participating in batting practice and that a return in a couple weeks is "very realistic," Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Betts continues to ramp up his baseball work in his rehab from a fractured left hand, and the finish line may finally be in sight. The 31-year-old could soon progress to live batting practice, and that figures to be one of the final hurdles before he's cleared for game action. It remains to be seen if Betts will require a rehab assignment before returning, but even if necessary, it may not be a lengthy stint in the minors.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Nearing batting practice

Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Betts (hand) continues to swing a bat and could soon be cleared to take batting practice, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The 31-year-old was cleared to resume taking swings last week and has since progressed to hitting soft toss and flips. Betts still has significant work to do in his rehab program, but a return in mid-August doesn't appear to be out of the question.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Begins taking cuts

Betts (hand) has been cleared to swing a bat, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Betts continues to take steps in the right direction after landing on the injured list June 17 due to a fractured left hand. If all goes well, he'll progress to hitting off a tee in the near future. Manager Dave Roberts noted that Betts is still "some time away" from a return, but he's pleased with the progress the 31-year-old superstar has made, per Juan Toribio of MLB.com.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Plays catch Friday

Betts (hand) played catch Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Betts previously had someone else catch the ball for him while he continued to keep his arm active, but Friday marked the first time he was able to catch balls himself using his fractured left hand. The Dodgers have yet to set a target return date for the 31-year-old, though there's still a chance he's able to rejoin the team in early August. When Betts does rejoin the lineup, he may be used as a second baseman given Miguel Rojas' strong performance while filling in as his replacement at shortstop.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Begins fielding grounders

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Betts (hand) has started to field softly hit groundballs, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. Though Betts hasn't yet been cleared for full baseball activities, taking part in fielding work is an indication that he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery from a fractured left hand. The All-Star was given an estimated 6-to-8-week timeline for a return after sustaining the injury in mid-June, and though he still has a ways to go in his rehab, Betts could be ready to come off the 10-day injured list in early August. Betts has seen the majority of his starts at shortstop this season, though the Dodgers could look to deploy him mainly at second base upon his return. Miguel Rojas has excelled as Betts' primary replacement at shortstop and could be deserving of a full-time role upon Betts' return, while second baseman Gavin Lux entered Sunday's game against the Tigers sporting a lowly .565 OPS on the season.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Could return as second baseman

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated over the weekend that he may consider having Betts (wrist) play primarily at second base upon his return, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. The consideration to shift Betts back to second base from shortstop is primarily due to the impressive performance of Miguel Rojas, who has played excellent defense, as usual, while adding a surprisingly potent bat (he's slashing .291/.337/.437 over 164 plate appearances). The versatile Betts is no stranger to second base; he played a career-high 70 games at the position last year after beginning the campaign in the outfield. Betts was then asked to move to shortstop ahead of 2024 despite never having logged time there in the majors prior to 2023, and he's performed adequately defensively despite a few hiccups. It remains to be seen if the Dodgers will ultimately pursue having Betts and Rojas form their middle infield for most games, and Roberts has time to think through that scenario since Betts remains several weeks away from returning. He threw and ran Tuesday, per the Associated Press, but hasn't yet swung a bat.
