    Witt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Astros. Witt had just one of two extra base hits for the Royals on Sunday, and his home run brought him up to 30 for a second straight year. He became the first player in franchise history to hit 30 home runs in consecutive seasons. Witt now has five home runs in his last nine games and is slashing .340/.392/.615 with 97 RBI, 117 runs, 27 steals and a 45:93 BB:K in 609 plate appearances.

The team sent Witt for imaging after the game likely as a precaution, and the results came back negative. Kansas City's medical staff figures to give the star shortstop a quick look Tuesday to make sure there isn't any significant swelling, but all signs point to him being in the starting lineup for the second game of the series.
