Mets' Logan Porter: Signs MLB deal with Mets
Porter agreed to a one-year contract with the Mets on Thursday and will be optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Porter initiated the opt-out clause in his minor-league contract with the Giants earlier this week, and he's managed to land a big-league deal in a new organization. With Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens performing well as the Mets' catching duo, Porter will be assigned to Syracuse where he will provide depth. The 29-year-old is slashing .293/.390/.500 with eight home runs in 53 games this season at the Triple-A level.

Mets' Kodai Senga: Needs one more rehab start
Senga (shoulder/triceps) is expected to make another rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
After building up to 4.2 innings and 67 pitches in his most recent rehab outing with Syracuse this past Sunday, Senga looked like he might have had a chance at making his next start with the big club, but the Mets will instead send him out for one more tune-up appearance in the minors. Assuming Senga is able to build on his pitch count and experiences no setbacks during his upcoming minor-league outing, he could return from the 60-day injured list to make his 2024 Mets debut during the club's home series with Atlanta that begins July 25. Senga was placed on the IL coming out of spring training with a strained right shoulder, then battled triceps inflammation during the rehab process that ended up setting him back further.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Scraps hitting
McLean will focus on pitching going forward, SNY Mets reports.
He cited the physical toll that doing both hitting and pitching was taking on his body, but his 52.2-percent strikeout rate in 69 plate appearances as a hitter at Double-A likely also factored into the decision. McLean is a very exciting pitching prospect, sporting one of the best high-spin sliders in the minors and a mid-90s fastball with good movement. There's perhaps another level of upside with McLean on the mound now, considering he had been trying to be a two-way player up until this point and can just focus on pitching going forward. The 6-foot-2 righty has been unlucky at Double-A (.358 BABIP, 21.1 HR/FB), leading to a 5.35 ERA and 1.55 WHIP, but his 3.86 xFIP hints that better days are ahead.

Mets' Alex Young: Claimed by Mets
The Mets claimed Young off waivers from the Giants on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.
Young was traded from the Reds to the Giants for outfielder Austin Slater earlier this month and now will be moving on to a third organization in just over a week. The left-handed reliever has made three scoreless appearances in the majors this season and holds a 2.19 ERA and 23:8 K:BB over 24.2 frames during his time at the Triple-A level in 2024.

Mets' Tyler Jay: Booted off 40-man roster
The Mets designated Jay for assignment Wednesday.
Jay will cede his spot on the 40-man roster to another lefty reliever in Alex Young, whom the Mets claimed off waivers from the Giants on Wednesday. If Jay goes unclaimed through waivers, he'll stick around with the Mets organization as bullpen depth at Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets' Adam Ottavino: Losing high-leverage work
Ottavino has posted a 4.89 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB through 35 innings with one win, one save and 13 holds in 36 appearances.
The Mets' bullpen issues early in the season caused manager Carlos Mendoza to lean heavily on Ottavino, but the workload appears to have caught up with the 38-year-old righty. While his 30.7 percent strikeout rate is among the better marks in his career, Ottavino's 42.4 percent groundball rate is his lowest since he was pitching for the Rockies in 2017. He's also recorded only one of his 13 holds over the last month, as younger relief arms like Dedniel Nunez and Reed Garrett (elbow) have moved into high-leverage roles. If the Mets add further bullpen reinforcements ahead of the trade deadline, Ottavino's usage as a setup man for Edwin Diaz could decline even further.

Mets' David Peterson: Returns from paternity leave
The Mets activated Peterson (personal) from the paternity list Monday.
Peterson was away from the club for its final series before the All-Star break against the Rockies, but he'll be back on the roster for the start of the second half Friday in Miami. The Mets haven't revealed their post-break rotation plans yet, so it's not clear when Peterson's first start of the second half will come.

Mets' Trey Snyder: Nabbed by Mets in fifth round
The Mets have selected Snyder with the 144th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
Snyder demonstrated the ability to hit for contact from the right side and boasted fringy-to-average power during his prep career at Missouri. He lacks the straight-line speed teams like to see from shortstops, however, so he could be at risk of moving to third base down the line. The Mets will first have to pry him away from his commitment to Tennessee before the organization decides on whether to continue his development as a shortstop.

Mets' Eli Serrano: Picked in fourth round
The Mets have selected Serrano with the 111th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
A lefty-hitting outfielder from North Carolina State, Serrano has a big 6-foot-5, 201-pound frame with room to add significant muscle. If he does, there could be another level for him as a power hitter. As things stand currently, Serrano doesn't have any above-average tools, so this is a developmental pick by the Mets.

Mets' Nate Dohm: Selected by Mets
The Mets have selected Dohm with the 82nd overall overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
Dohm began his collegiate career as a reliever before transitioning to the rotation with Mississippi State, and he excelled in the role. He gets good ride on a fastball that sits at 94 mph and has above-average offerings in his curveball and slider. A primary concern will be his health, as he battled forearm issues during his sophomore year in college.

Mets' Joey Lucchesi: Clears waivers
The Mets outrighted Lucchesi to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday after he cleared waivers.
Lucchesi will remain in the Mets system after no other team was willing to dedicate a 40-man roster spot to the left-hander and foot the bill for the money remaining on his one-year, $1.65 million contract. The 31-year-old turned in a 2.89 ERA over nine starts for the Mets in 2023, but he was lit up for five earned runs in 4.1 innings in his lone spot start with the big club this season, which came back on May 15 in Philadelphia. Lucchesi has otherwise been a regular member of the Syracuse rotation this season, logging a 4.20 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 63:34 K:BB across 83.2 innings.

Mets' Francisco Lindor: On base four times Sunday
Lindor went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
The veteran shortstop heads into the All-Star break on a tear. Lindor got on base 10 times in 15 plate appearances during the three-game series against Colorado, and over his last 25 contests he's slashing .314/.397/.549 with nine doubles, five homers, seven steals, 18 RBI and 20 runs.

Mets' Pete Alonso: Clubs 19th homer
Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
He got the Mets on the board in the fourth inning by crushing a German Marquez two-seamer deep to left field. Alonso snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast, and he heads into the All-Star break -- and an appearance in the Home Run Derby -- slashing .240/.319/.454 with 19 homers and 51 RBI in 95 contests.

Mets' Jose Quintana: Rocked by Colorado
Quintana (4-6) took the loss Sunday against the Rockies, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Quintana surrendered four home runs Sunday, the most he's allowed in a start in his career. Fortunately for the left-hander, three of the long balls occurred with no runners on base, with Ezequiel Tovar's two-run homer in the first inning being the only non-solo shot. The outing was Quintana's first real hiccup in a month, as he racked up a 0.89 ERA and 27 strikeouts across his last five starts (30.1 innings) and had thrown 14 consecutive scoreless innings leading up to Sunday's start. Quintana enters the All-Star break with a 3.91 ERA with a 71:33 K:BB across 96.2 innings.

Mets' Jose Iglesias: Racks up four hits
Iglesias went 4-for-4 with two runs scored during Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Rockies.
Iglesias reached safely in all five of his plate appearances and tied a career high with four hits. The veteran second baseman has been integral to the Mets' turnaround, slashing .380/.417/.582 with three home runs, 14 runs, 16 RBI and an 8.3 percent K rate since joining the Mets' 26-man roster May 31.

Mets' Jonathan Santucci: Drafted by Mets
The Mets have selected Santucci with the 46th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
Santucci had surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow midway through his sophomore season at Duke and was also impacted by a rib injury as a junior. Amid the injuries, the 6-foot-2 southpaw tallied 140 strikeouts and 52 walks in 87.1 innings across his final two seasons, illustrating his ability to miss bats at a high clip and his shaky control. He has a modern fastball in the 92-to-96 mph range, and his low-80s slider is a second plus offering. Santucci's changeup also shows promise, so it will be his durability and command/control that determines whether he makes it as a big-league starter.

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Begins running, hitting
Mauricio (knee) was cleared to begin running and hitting in late May, MLB.com reports.
Mauricio opened the season on the 60-day injured list after he tore the ACL in his right knee in December while playing in the Dominican Winter League. He underwent surgery in January and is facing a projected recovery timeline of 8-to-12 months, leaving the door open for the 23-year-old infielder to return from the IL in September. While Mets vice president of player development Andy Green said May 31 that "everything is progressing as it should" with regard to Mauricio's recovery, the organization won't have a clear idea on whether he'll be able to return from the IL in 2024 until later in the summer.

Mets' Kodai Senga: Looks sharp in latest rehab outing
Senga (shoulder) struck out three while allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse.
Senga tossed 67 pitches (41 strikes) in his third rehab outing, and he's now compiled an 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 10 innings between Syracuse and High-A Brooklyn. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has said that club officials will determine the next steps for Senga over the All-Star break. Based on how he's fared during his rehab assignment, Senga looks ready to return from the 60-day injured list, but the Mets may still want him to build up to the 75-to-80 pitch range in another rehab start before he rejoins the big-league rotation.
