Boston Scott: Goes to Pittsburgh's practice squad
The Steelers signed Scott to their practice squad Friday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Scott spent the preseason with the Rams and totaled a team-leading 157 rushing yards on 36 carries while adding 10 yards on three catches across three exhibition contests. However, the veteran ball carrier was released Sunday, and he'll now add to Pittsburgh's organizational depth at running back. Scott has extensive NFL experience, totaling 1,295 career rushing yards with 16 touchdowns on 302 carries and 71 receptions for 566 yards and another touchdown over 75 regular-season games with Philadelphia covering six seasons.

Boston Scott: Let go by Rams
The Rams released Scott on Sunday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Scott signed with the Rams in April after spending the first six years of his career in Philadelphia, where he primarily played as a third-down back. The 29-year-old's playing time hit a career low during his final campaign with the Eagles, tallying just 20 carries for 86 yards across 15 regular-season appearances. He also dealt with a minor leg injury this preseason, though he had strong showings in all three of the Rams' preseason contests. Nevertheless, it appears he was left on the outside looking in, as, according to Schultz, the Rams plan to stick with three running backs for the regular season. This should leave Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans as the likely candidates to back up Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Scott should now look to land as a reserve running back elsewhere ahead of the regular season.

Rams' Boston Scott: Back in action
Scott (leg) carried the ball 11 times for 32 yards in Saturday's preseason finale against the Texans.
Scott picked up a leg contusion in last week's exhibition win over the Chargers, but he wound up missing no game time to the minor setback. The veteran backup has rushed for 155 yards on 37 carries in three games this preseason. Scott is looking to make the team as a depth option behind starter Kyren Williams this upcoming season.

Rams' Boston Scott: Dealing with minor leg injury
Head coach Sean McVay told reporters Thursday that Scott is dealing with a "little bit of a leg contusion," Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
The injury doesn't appear to be serious, with McVay relaying that Scott is set to receive "a big workload" in Saturday's preseason finale against Houston. Scott signed a one-year contract with the Rams in April after spending the first six years of his NFL career with the Eagles. The 2018 sixth-round pick is currently pencilled in as the Rams' fourth running back on the depth chart behind Kyren Williams, rookie Blake Corum and Ronnie Rivers.

Rams' Boston Scott: Strong showing in preseason win
Scott took 10 carries for 55 yards in Saturday's preseason tilt against the Chargers.
Scott was the second back to receive a touch behind Zach Evans (16-62-0), but both backs were mixed in early in Saturday's exhibition win. The Rams are holding out the dynamic backs sitting atop the RB depth chart along with Ronnie Rivers this preseason, which is why Scott and Evans have been getting so much run. The long-time Eagle could find himself in a similar backup/special teams role this season, assuming he makes the 53-man roster with his new club.

Rams' Boston Scott: Big workload in preseason opener
Scott carried the ball 15 times for 68 yards and caught all three of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 13-12 preseason win over the Cowboys. He also returned one kickoff for 23 yards.
The veteran running back got the start for the Rams and played through the third quarter, leading the team in rushing in the process. Scott's big workload came with Kyren Williams, rookie Blake Corum and even Ronnie Rivers sitting out, however, suggesting that the former Eagle isn't headed for a significant role in the Rams backfield this season barring a rash of injuries.

Rams' Boston Scott: Fresh start in L.A.
Scott agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Rams on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Scott spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia, but he will now get a fresh start in Los Angeles. While he was never a major part of the Eagles' offense during his tenure, he saw his role as a third-down back shrink during the 2023 campaign. The 29-year-old will presumably be behind Kyren Williams and rookie Blake Corum on the Rams' depth chart, and Scott will compete with Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans for the No. 3 role.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Role shrinks in sixth season
Scott didn't play a very important role for the Eagles this season, finishing with 20 carries for 86 yards and adding four catches for 52 yards through the air over 15 regular-season games.
Scott hasn't been a major part of the Eagles' offense at any point in his six-year career, but he'd managed to run for at least 217 yards in each of the previous four years, so his latest numbers represent a big step back. He also failed to reach the end zone for the first time since his two-game debut back in 2018. It's hard to envision the Eagles suddenly deciding to feature him more often next season.

Eagles' Boston Scott: Three carries in season finale
Scott rushed three times for five yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Giants.
With D'Andre Swift out due to illness and the Eagles resting several starters in the second half, Scott was able to play 20 offensive snaps, doubling his season high. The result was another uneventful game for the sixth-year running back, and it's fair to wonder whether he has a future with the Eagles given that he received just 24 touches (20 carries and four receptions) all season.
