Banks broke his pinkie finger Thursday and had to undergo surgery, but head coach Kyle Shanahan says the hope is that he'll be ready for Week 1, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Banks' finger injury and surgery recovery will likely keep him out of San Francisco's final two preseason games in the hope that he'll be back for Week 1 against the Jets. Offensive guard Nick Zakelj worked at left guard in place of Banks on Friday and should continue to do so in the following weeks as Banks works his way back.

49ers' Aaron Banks: Returns to practice
Banks (back) was seen participating in Saturday's practice session, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Banks had missed multiple practices due to back spasms, but the 2021 second-round pick out of Notre Dame appears to be over the issue. He is slated to serve as the 49ers' starting left guard in 2024.

Banks told reporters Tuesday that he aggravated his turf toe injury in the 49ers' 33-19 loss to the Ravens, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Banks missed two games earlier in the season with this toe issue and it now seems as if it could hinder him going forward. The third-year guard out of Notre Dame was unable to return to the field after exiting Monday night's game, so his practice participation will be something to look out for leading up to San Francisco's Week 17 contest.
