Big Bend National Park is known for its vast remote nature as one of the largest national parks in the United States. Because of this, Big Bend National Park is home to some of the clearest night skies in the world. In 2012, the park was designated a Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park. The park has limited light pollution allowing for the clearest of night skies. Over 1 million acres of Big Bend is protected under the International Dark Sky Association.
