I Spent 24 Hours Testing the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in Paris

Tech
B here. I'm here in Paris at the brand new Galaxy Z flip six from Samsung. And I thought what better way to spend my first day with the phone than to A I my way around Paris. And I'm starting the day at 100%. Let's get started. All right, I'm here at my first stop. I'm here at the French coffee shop in Paris. Now I don't speak French and I really want a cup of coffee. So I'm gonna use the interpreter mode on the new Galaxy Z flip six. It's powered by A I and will turn my English words into French for the barista to understand. Let's see how it goes. Hello? Um I'm sorry, but I don't speak French and I'd like to get some coffee. Do you have coffee here? Oh, yes, of course. What do you want as a cake? I would like a cortado, please. Ok. That a budget problem. Ok. So I was able to get a cortado at the French cafe here. Uh I noticed that some of the words she was saying in French did not translate in English. Maybe what she meant or she thought it might be, her accent was interfering with it. We're not sure, but was I able to order a cup of coffee in France with a I, I was so Sansone we could check that box. Get going gout Suie Flip six. All right, let's check in. I am at 89%. We've been out and about for a couple of hours now. Um, most recently I just shot some skateboarders, uh, doing some tricks. And what's cool is I just shot regular video. But another cool A I feature on this phone is something that came out with the S series earlier this year. And when I play back the video, I can press my finger and hold it on the screen and will automatically add little frames in between the frames to make it slow motion. It's really impressive uh with the skateboarders. I actually tried it with our video producer Jay. He was doing some weird things with his hands and if you look at the fingers, it's kind of freaky because A I does not like fingers, but let's go on to our next location. All right, I'm here on a bridge over the canal de Saint Martin here in Paris. And I think this is a great place to talk about price. The new Galaxy Z flip six is actually $100 more than it was last year. So it is now $1100. Now, why is it more? Is it inflation is it, the new hardware, like the camera, the hinge of the screen. I'm not sure because earlier this month we just got the Motorola Razr Plus, which also has a new screen, a new hinge and a new camera. And this did not go up in price and it's just $1000. All right, we stopped again here. We're at AG Cafe here in Paris for quick orange juice and a quick bite to eat. Uh We've been filling for about three hours and the battery life at the phone is around 80%. Uh I've been taking lots of photos and videos with it and using a lot of A I but speaking of A I, my next A I stop on the tour is, this is a real croissant. I am excited to take a bite of this, but I can actually use A I on the phone and draw an outline of a croissant and A I will make it into a beautiful piece of artwork of the croissant. So let's see how A I croissant compares to a real Parisian croissant. So I'm gonna open up the little uh quick access side panel here, tap on the draw tool and I'm gonna just draw like a stick figure of a croissant as best I can. I have a couple of options here. Looks, this one looks a little like a prawn or shrimp croissant. This looks like a very glazed croissant here that looks pretty good. Uh I think this might be the keeper. So I just tap on the little tool here. I'm gonna hit save and there we go. Obviously, what I drew was basically lines that looked something like croissant shaped and it did the color, it did the texture. But I think if you looked at this, you'd be like that is a croissant. But how does it compare to a real pre croissant? Let's find out. OK. I'm kidding. All right. Hey, while we stopped here and uh talking about photos and A I, I want to show you another A I feature. So uh I took a portrait mode photo of our video producer Jay. Uh clearly portrait mode is nothing new on phones. We've had it for a while. But what is new on this phone is I can take this portrait and turn it into an work of art using A I, I have different like looks of it. I could do like a comic book style, a watercolor style, a sketch style. Let's see how it works and what the results are of today's portrait here. I'm in the gallery app on the phone. Um I have different icons. I'm gonna tap on A I and you can see I get a couple of things I could, I could draw on the photo or I could use portrait studio. I'm gonna tap portrait studio and I found my subject here today. Now on the bottom, I have a couple of different comic 3d cartoon, watercolor sketch and I can do different styles. So why don't we try, let's try comic here and we generate and see how it looks like of my camera shooter and video producer. Today. If he was a cartoon or in a comic book, what does Galaxy I do? We're gonna find out. Yeah. You look nothing like today. I'm sorry, today you're filming right now. You're right next to my mic. Does this look like you? I'm gonna go with no. All right. That's a no, let's take it. But I have other options though. All right. This looks even less like you in this one. I'm gonna go nowhere. This looks like you. If you and Tiger Woods and um Chris Tucker had a baby. Goddamn it does. And this is Chance, the rapper that is you are. This is totally Chance. The rapper. All right. So clearly the results of the portrait studio A I not great fun, fun to have a good laugh at ourselves, but I'm paying $1100 for a phone. I think I want something that looks a little more like myself. Now, there is one other A I photo feature I want to show you and I think this is actually pretty cool. So whereas portrait studio takes a real photo and turns it into a drawing or a sketch. I could take a real photo and draw on it and my drawing it's turned into part of the photo. It's wild. So let's take a look at a picture I took at the Saint Martin canal and I'm gonna add a seagull to it. So I tap on the A I tool and then here I can remove stuff. But if I go to the sketch tool here, like it says, draw anything you want to generate an image. So let's just try drawing a seagull like a seagull flying flying over the canal there. All right, it's just a simple line drawing and hit generate and let's see what happens. Um What's interesting is unlike the photos, portrait studio where it took a realistic photo to make it stylized. This is gonna take essentially a line drawing and make it look like a bird that actually looks pretty good. Look at that. Wow. Um Here, I'm gonna save a copy here and let's see if you could um zoom in a little bit here. I mean, that's a pretty realistic looking bird. I don't even have words. I'm really impressed by this. I'm not sure when I would use this feature but oh, wow, simply. Wow. All right. We thought we'd end the video in front of one of the most iconic parts of Paris, the Eiffel Tower. And what a better place to reflect on my day with the Galaxy Z flip six. So first of all, what have I learned one that Patrick Holland? He sunburns under the Paris sun in July. And that's not a lot of fun, but let's check on the phone. So we started this video shoot about five hours ago and the battery was at 100%. And now five hours later, it's at 67%. So it dropped 33%. There was a lot of videos I shot with the phone. A lot of photos, the screens were at full brightness. I was in a lot of the generative A I. So that might explain a lot of that battery drop. Let's talk about the A I though, right? There were some that was really impressive and some that was really useful and some that was, well, I don't think I'll ever use again the interpreter tool in the restaurant. I found really useful. I don't speak French unfortunately. And it made me feel confident going in and ordering coffee. But then there's the portrait studio while it was fun to see the ridiculous photos I made of my friend Jay. I don't know if I would ever use that tool again. Maybe if you have kids, it might be fun for them to play with and see what they can come up with. And last, there's the ability to draw on a photo and turn your drawing into part of the photo that kind of blew me away when they took my little two line sketch of a seagull and turned it into a full bird flying down the ST Martin Canal. I mean, I don't know. Keeper in my book. When would I use it? I'm not sure, but this is only my first day with a phone. I have so much more testing to do so many more videos to do and I still got to compare it a lot more against the Motorola Razr Plus. So if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up if you want to know more about the galaxy Z flip six. Check out our coverage on cnet.com. Lastly. Mercy baku au revoir misa me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me au revoir mes me.
