Review: Wi Spa

What’s the vibe at this place?

Consider the jimjilbang. Koreans spend nearly 1.5 billion US dollars on the spa life in South Korea, so when we say this spa is an iconic Koreatown staple, just know that this spa is probably going to surpass your expectations of what a spa should, nay, can, be.

Take us into the room. How was the set-up? The session itself?

First, you are ferried off to men's and women's sides, where you strip down, shower, and then hop into one of the treated medicinal tubs (see how long you can stay in the cold one). Then head up to choose a treatment, which costs extra, from the vast menu of body buffs, seaweed massages, and facials.

What about after the treatment?

After your treatment, you'll head up to the next floor to the common area, where you can grab a bite at the cafe, which offers healthy Korean soups and noodles, before heading into the multitude of cavernous saunas. There's even a sleep room, a room full of soft leather recliners, and a full gym. Oh and you'll be doing all of this in your comfy Wi Spa shorts and t-shirt, which are provided.

Wi Spa is a Los Angeles institution—it's some people's first stop when they land to rejuvenate from the flight. Some locals go to Wi Spa once a week--it's cheap enough to be worth it to stop in and take advantage of the saunas and medicinal pools. However you're experiencing it, expect to come out of Wi Spa feeling cradled in serenity.
