Review: Colonia Juárez

Once gritty, the area is now teeming with great boutiques, bars, and restaurants, especially the leafy central square.

What's this place all about?
The Juárez neighborhood has evolved in recent years. Once gritty, the area is now teeming with great boutiques, restaurants, parks, and bars.

What should we seek out while we're there?
There are loads of hot spots around the leafy central Plaza Washington: La Rifa for artisanal chocolates, Loose Blues for vinyls and vintage denim, and Cicatriz for natural wines and bright bites like basil bean salads.

How easy is it to get around?
Wander around the streets that lead off Plaza Washington. When you're in need of a break, grab a bench in the sleepy park.

What's the overall vibe of the neighborhood?
Unlike Mexico City's ritzy Polanco district, the Juarez is a little more low key.
