Keke Palmer's mother, Sharon Palmer, has recalled the "very weird, very cultish" vibe she got during her visits to the sets of Nickelodeon shows run by disgraced TV producer and writer Dan Schneider.

On the latest episode of Keke's podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer, on which they were joined by former child actors Giovonnie Samuels and Bryan Hearne, the actress and her mother Sharon spoke about the allegations surrounding Dan Schneider and Nickelodeon detailed in the docuseries, Quiet On Set. "I had a lot of child celebrity parents, some of my friends that I've accumulated over the years, they hit me up," said Sharon, as to how she found out about the documentary.

"We were all there around that time," said Keke, who starred in the Nickelodeon show True Jackson, VP from 2008 to 2011. "I honestly do remember you having a lot to say about the Dan Schneider sets. I remember you feeling a way about Nickelodeon and how they kind of... I do want to hear what you have to say."

Sharon said that there was a strange atmosphere to the sets of Schneider's shows. "I thought the whole atmosphere of the Dan Schneider set was very weird, it was very cultish," she said. "Parents were very secretive and I honestly thought they all took themselves way too seriously... It was always so frantic about what was being canceled."

The Investigation Discovery docuseries specifically focuses on allegations that Drake Bell, the star of Drake & Josh, was sexually abused by All That and The Amanda Show dialogue coach Brian Peck.

"When I saw the Drake story, it just broke my heart," Sharon continued. "Because I could see how his parents got trapped. I could see the grooming that went on." Sharon and her daughter agreed that not every child's experience on the Nickelodeon shows, and other children shows, was negative. "I do people assume that every child actor's experience now is what they've heard on [Quiet on Set]," added Keke.
