Attention queer babes and allies alike: Pride approaches, my dears, have you picked out your sparkliest rainbow ensemble yet? This epically fun and beautiful time of year known as Pride Month is all about celebrating yourself and your community, whether you live in a big city that’s shutting down the streets for an organized parade or you’re the one creating the celebrations in your small town. While LGBTQ+ folks deserve to feel safe, loved, and honored all year round, Pride Month is an extra special time to rejoice and celebrate love. Of course, there’s still tons of work that needs to be done to protect our queer citizens—but that doesn’t mean that we can’t stop and party for a night, a weekend, or, you know, an entire month. Pride is all about realizing that activism can be both heroic and glamorous at the same time...annnd what better way to spread the love than with a spectacularly fabulous Instagram post complete with the perfectly crafted Pride caption?

But before you fire off that post, remember that there are plenty of other ways you can show your support this year besides collecting all the likes on Insta. If you have some extra money that needs a good home, consider donating to LGBTQIA+ organizations like GLAAD and The Trevor Project. June is also a lovely excuse to read up and educate yourself on LGBTQ+ history and issues. (Quick crash course: Pride began with the Stonewall Riots, which went down when a group of queer people—including the legendary Marsha P. Johnson, who authored a number of the Pride captions we’ve collected below—rebelled against a cruel and unjust police raid in 1969 at an iconic New York City gay bar, the Stonewall Inn.)

While allies are welcome, if you’re straight and joining in on Pride celebrations, just remember to be super respectful. You can best use your privilege by uplifting queer voices and voting for government representatives who are helping the LGBTQIA+ community rather than holding them down. Not sure if you’re gay, straight, or something else? Amazing. Pride is a wonderful time to explore your sexuality—although it’s worth keeping in mind that there’s no rush to figure it out and that it’s more than okay if your identity changes as you grow.

Now, wherever your celebrations take you this Pride, you’ll probably want to document all the fun and fabulousness on Instagram—which is great! Visibility can help normalize and celebrate queer culture, which we simply love to see. So, to help you nail the ultimate, Pride-perfect ’gram this June, we’ve created an extensive list of 150 Pride captions for Instagram. Happy Pride, babes!
