Mass hair cutting has become a ritual for feminists in South Korea. When a woman is attacked for her appearance they protest by chopping off their locks. It is a bold move in a culture obsessed with rigid ideas of beauty.

Over the past decade, Korean feminists have pushed for more protections for women, but recently this activism has faced a backlash from some men, who find support at the highest levels of the government.
