It's been nearly two decades since Gilmore Girls ended its TV run, but there's one hot topic that fans are still debating today: Who was the best boyfriend to Alexis Bledel's Rory?
Well, when it comes to choosing between Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), Dean (Jared Padalecki) or Logan (Matt Czuchry), Keiko Agena—who portrayed Rory's beloved BFF Lane—has remained a loyal member of one party.
"I pretty much have stayed a team Jess person this whole time," the actress recently told E! News. "And I don't think I'm gonna change."
"I felt like their passions were the same," she continued of Rory and Jess. "They both loved reading, they both loved books. They loved challenging each other and the friction of that was so fun to watch."
It's that connection, Keiko—who celebrated her 18th anniversary with husband Shin Kawasaki in December—believes makes for a solid long-term relationship.
"Because you can grow in the other ways," she explained. "I think maturity wise, we all had to grow. They were young when they met. But having that fiery interest where you can always talk about things and grow together. I feel like that's the bedrock of a good relationship."
When fans last saw Keiko's character Lane in 2017's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the Hep Alien drummer was still married to Zack Van Gerbig (Todd Lowe).
As for where she thinks Lane is today? "I do have this fantasy of Lane traveling," the 13 Reasons Why alum told E!. "Because she was such a fan of music, in my mind, I always craved more outside of Connecticut interaction for her."
When it comes to her relationship status, "Lane is still with Zack," she noted, "but she's writing really bad fantasy fanfiction."
And she might just have her ex-boyfriend Dave Rygalski (Adam Brody) on her mind.
"I think there is some lovelorn, heartsickness over that relationship," Keiko shared. "I don't know that she would ever act on anything, but a friendship for sure."
As for real life friendships, Keiko remains close with her fellow costars, including Emily Kuroda, who "wonderfully" played her onscreen mom Mrs. Kim.
"I see her a lot in Los Angeles," Keiko shared. "She's very active in theater and she's a fantastic actress. So, I see her and then John Cabrera who played one of my bandmates and also Sean Gunn, who played Kirk, are dear friends of mine. I've been to their weddings, I love them to death."
